I went in to refund a computer game today becaues my computer won't run it *its on the fritz for some reason*. They will only give me the same product back. Well I pointed out their "return policy" at the return desk. They told me it was "3 1/2 years old and now out of date. It is no longer legit." Well they then tell me there is one in the Electronics Department. Well I go back there to look and 10ft above me is a sign that says "RETURN POLICY" then in smaller bearly readable letters it says the return policy. However it still says "refund or exchange". I go on walmart.com and the return policy on there STILL says i should get a refund. Their excuse is "Its open and I could have copied the game."I ask for more information and they point me to the sign in the back which STILLS says I should still get a refund.The Ast.Manger did the typical thing and tried to make me accept the policy. At the end he said he says "I can't make this decision" So I ask for the guy above him. Well he wasn't here today. So I asked when and what time. He says 7 to 5. I ask Am or Pm *I work at a movie theater so to me it was a liget question becaues we have midnight previews which let out about 4 or 5.* He then laughs at me. I Said "i was under the impression this was a 24 hr walmart". He told me none of the mangers work 24 hrs and kept laughing.I told him that I knew this that i was asking which shift he worked. I was like okay see ya monday. Is it just me nit picking or is that just really stupid and plain out wrong? I'm now 50 bucks in the hole because I have a game that will not run and all I get is the same game back and laughed at? Please if you went through this and manged to win tell me so I can use some of your tactics/ideas to get my Refund....I even said all I wanted was store credit. Stupid copy right laws and Stupid Refund policys. GRRRRR!
Often if you insist they'll give you the money (or store credit), if you return for the other guy he may just see you're gonna be pretty persistant about it and give in rather than keep spending loads of time... of course you've already spent quite a bit of your time running around the store & coming back

Be persistant. Tell them that you bought the game under the impression that the sign they have posted was valid. Tell them that is false advertisement and if you had known you would be stuck with a faulty game,you wouldn't have made the purchase in the first place. Also,who cares if it's a lie...tell them that the game is faulty and it messed your computer up....you don't want another game from them that will only mess up your computer anyways. I wouldn't care...especially not since they laugh at people who ask real questions.
I know here in Saskatchewan, you can't return a game that's been opened - but you can exchange it for store credit or for another product. I found that out when I bought a game that doesn't like laptops, and the company refuses to even think about providing help for laptops *grumbles* Just ask if you can exchange it, maybe that'll make them less awful
Keep at them... Get kinda loud and makea big stink... thats what I did... One of their refund policys that bother me is that if you get a refund it must be made in the same payment.. My sister bought me a little digital camera for christmas.. Well it was broken it would turn off for no reason in them iddle of taking hte picture.. So I went to return it.. They couldnt exchange it.. they had no more... So they asked for the Credit card that it was put on.. i dont have it.. Someone else bought t for me.. I have the recipt though.. After alot of bitching.. I got a manager.. and laid into him about How come I have to have the same credit card.. He told me I needed a gift recipt.. And I said I never knew walmart had gift recipts (i really didnt.. every other store on the planet at christmas time asks you if you want one so i told him that) After alot of bitching they gave me my money in a gift card and an extra 20 bucks .. But their return policies are rediculous
Yeah, but their rental policy is great, hands down the best.N' I'm not talking about their dumb movie rental buisiness. I mean shit, you can go put a deposit down just about anything (full product price of course) take it out for a spin for whatever, come back with it, and they give all the money back to you. Zero dollar rental policy in effect.
I'm surprised no one has said this yet but, you shouldn't have shopped there in the first place, especially if customer service was a concern. And why are you trying to return something that's 3 years old?
I bought the game about 4days ago The sign is 3 1/2 years old. I have to shop there becaues where i live its the only store that carries games around here.
Keep the game in your family and past it down. Years later your family will sell it with the original package and be rich and will say ha and they tried getting 50 bucks for it.
You could have copied it. They can trust you on your word. It would be cool if the world was that nice but its not.
Whoop, congrats! Glad you got it. Yeah, games and music are copy-able, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to get a refund if they really don't work. Games can be pretty expensive and the honest people shouldn't have to pay for those who aren't... besides, the people who really want to copy a game don't bother to buy it in the first place, they just borrow it from a friend

"I'm 50 dollars in the hole now because what I bought from you dosen't work...I'm about to move and I could of used that." "No where on the box did it say "KRIS I WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU DO NOT BUY ME"" "Can i speak to the head manger"*i said this over and over* "I contacted the Libary of Congress Copyright department and Blizzard" "The copyright department says it is comapny policey not agaisnt the law" "Blizzard has nothing against returns" "I'm hurt, unhappy, upset, etc etc." and other things along those lines....They gave me a gift card....but hey I'm not going to complian about it....I got my money back more or less.I can buy a fish..or something....
