Now that I've got your attention...
Hello, my name is Sylvain, and I have a message.
A number of threads have appeared on this forum where great numbers of people seem to desperately want some sort of "revolution"; people who've realized that the way our society is functioning is inhumain, unsustainable, and basically undesirable (to say the least), and think that something really ought to be done about it.
Now, the point has been made by many that while we can all just sit on our collective asses complaining about things, some definite action has to be taken to reform our society.

In roughly a month, I'll be leaving all the comforts of modern society to live in a tent, surviving by my own wits, living what I believe to be a moral life. One thing I should mention is that I AM NOT TRYING TO RECREATE THE SIXTIES AND SEVENTIES! That revolution was approriate for then, not for now. It's also been pointed out that before any action is taken, we must have definite goals in mind. Fair enough:
1- To live in a manner in which we are being compatible with the environment.
2- To create a society where people are able to live in a cooperative way because it is better for the species, not because of laws.*
3- To LIVE truly, rather than vicariously through tv and such. To experience reality, including pain and all kinds of diffuculty.
    4- To, perhaps, be free.
These are a few of the goals that are more important to me. There are certainly more that I'm sure you can come up with.
Here's my overall goal for the time being:
As I travel around North America, living this lifestyle, I want to try to get people to live similar lifestyles (not preaching, because I know perfectly well what this entails), people who are unhappy with our society, but who perhaps might not make the leap otherwise. I want to form bands of these people, not to go about being terrorists or causing trouble, but simply living this way**. Hopefully, more and more people will begin to see that this is possible (AND BELIEVE ME, IT IS!) and join in. I am by no means under the impression that we can completely reform our entire society or anything like that, but I know we can damn well make a good dent in it. I know some people are more interested in doing this alone, and I encourage this, but people being social creatures, company is nice, and bigger groups would be infinitely safer. Those of you who may want to travel with me, I can meet you in your hometown while I'm travelling.

So, we recognize that this is not going to be the sixties again, and we have goals. Now, back to the beginning.
It seems obvious enough from the sheer volume of the posts from unhappy members of this site that there is indeed dissatisfaction with our society. I have posted a brief version of the above on a couple threads, encouraging likeminded individuals to contact me, and seeing so many, I have been optomistic. However, I havn't received a single message.
So I shall reiterate: Sitting around in our houses with our bellbottoms and such is NOT going to change the world. I was under the impression that some of you were actually interested in taking action, but I'm beginning to think that I was very wrong. Perhaps no one saw my posts? Perhaps people think I'm joking? Rest assured, I'm not. Either pm or email me if you are AT ALL interested in knowing more, or possibly joining me in what I'm doing. My email adress is lemongait@hotmail.com .
I will do this alone if I have to, but if I do end up alone, I DO NOT WANT TO SEE ANYONE BITCHING ABOUT HOW THERE NEEDS TO BE A REVOLUTION. If nothing happens, it's YOUR fault, for change only comes when people act. If I seem harsh, good. I've had just about enough of supposedly counter-culture groups of people who simply BUY the fashion and use the slang. That's exactly what the government wants!
Here it is again: lemongait@hotmail.com . You can't have missed it.

    Peace and love,
    Sylvain

    * Without laws there are indeed people who will be ruthless and violent for selfish reasons, and who will not behave in a peaceful, cooperative manner. This is true. This is why I have suggested people keep in groups; for safety. Protecting each other is in our nature, though our society has made us forget that. Also, this life will not be as easy as that which you are already living. People do get sick. People can die at a young age. This is known as survival of the fittest, natural selection. Again, keep in groups where you can be taken care of and where you can take care of others, if you are concerned by this.

** If it sounds like I'm advocating a very specific mode of life, I'd like to clarify that I'm not. There are many ways people could live in this manner, being nomadic and scrounging for food in numerous ways, sedentary and growing food, etc.

right on man.... i would definatley look into tom brown and maybe some of his survival books and teachings, living harmoniously with nature and surviving off of her bounty is not as hard as one might think, doesnt make you a hobo at all imo, though i dont see anything wrong with that either.

god its nice to see people who are at least sordove interested in the whole trip i am on, i sometimes forget that i am not alone and my moms totally conventional and traditional ideas are not shared by EVERYONE as it seems sometimes, sigh..
i think revolution begins at home and we cant just revolt against something we dont know what were revolting against, or what it is we want in the place of it. that was sordove the problem of the 60s, they didnt really offer a better model to run things, or a very good one i guess...but they knew in their hearts though, that a lot of fucked up shits goes down and i totally relate to them, its very discouraging and distressing sometimes.. to try convey that stuff, and its importance to people who dont really value knowledge or learning because theyve been so cultured and raised in that way, which is really sad for a lot of reasons....

it begins though i think with not giving in to consuming from greedy companies and culture and conventional ideas as much as oh say everone in our society seems to do, and thinking for yourself and rejecting what youve been told is right. that makes a rather large dent too imo. like i just found a wild patch of strawberries in my back yard that im totally not gonna mow, its a huuuge patch too, it was probably growing and developing a foundation last year and maybe even the year before that. the berries arent of conventional taste or size but their also not of conventional chemical-residue makeup as strawberries are some of the most environmentally damaging crops grown by farmers today. so we have to just start living for ourselves i think and stop being so dependent and INFORM ourselves about how we affect the world. and sorda say fuck you to all the crap they try to feed us and tell us we need, and depend on nothing but ourselves to get by, not the selfish fucks out to just make a buck and screw the world in the process, cuz eventually, its themselves and all of us who are going to get screwed if we dont wise up...

i would also maybe check out the website http://www.pathtofreedom.com , you might be interested in all that too, its about sustaining yourself sordove without much help from other things. "resistance is fertile"
