I went out and finally put down the money for a decent tent today. Got a 6 person tent for no purpose of backpacking or hiking, I have a smaller tent for that. But the 6 person tent is 10 feet by 12. I can stand in the middle and for once, feel like I can breath in a tent. I only bought it on the soul reason for having it on my own land. Anyone else out there just as excited about me about a new camping related purchase?

    ahahah

you sound like i did when i bought a HUGE 10 man tent a few months back.
i got it home and planned on setting it up in my apartment living room .. just to see how big it was.
    the tent is too big.
i have yet to set it up and see how big it really is.

camping in august should answer that question:D

Haha... I use a damn Northface two man expedition tent... It's about 22 years old and my dad bought it in Alaska when we lived there. A couple years ago we used it the first time since about 1987 and the poles were missing and the wrong poles were with it. I had to make makeshift poles and stakes for it. Damn thing can't be destructed... doesn't leak at all.

That's cool, I take it you do a lot of group camping?

Me, I just got a one man 3-season from cabela's. It's so easy to set up, I can't wait to get out camping in it.

well, I do group camping, not large group camping but yes unless during hunting season.. I kind of camp out to make sure no drunks come on my land. And thank you for reminding me to seal the seams. Try hiking with one of those old army tents :( The canvas ones, jesus those things way a lot for a small tent.

I just treated myself to a coleman camp stove/ grill combo thing today. I've had the stove, and usually we can grill over a campfire, but i've wanted the grill/stove combo for those times when there isn't a campfire or when the fire rack is too sketchy-looking. I've been trying to make at least one investment in our camping equipment every year, and these were on clearance for $25, with a bonus griddle. Not too bad...

You know even though I got a new rv sometimes the tent deal will work better. I sold my old two room cabin and two smaller tents last year. I think I'll keep an eye out for a 3 or 4 room cabin tent. Might order the separate shower/toilet deal too. I don't dig having the loo in the same place as I gotta sleep/dress. Local camping store has this cool camp kitchen set up so if I get that, I'll invest in a enclosed gazbo as well. I love camping :D

Thank you, I'm like that too. I want to buy anything and everything that deals with camping. Two weekends ago we wen ahead and bought a gas weed eater for clearing the tall ass meadow. I guess it'd be easier to have cattle in there than paying 65 bucks for a tractor to come in and mow it. Better to pay the money than camping in cow shit I 'spose.
