My friend is thinking about growing shrooms. He has been reading up on it at the Shroomery. He is also thinking about using this guide because it is simple. Has anyone here (or friend ) cultivated shrooms? What sites have you found for good spore syringes? Thanks!
i have. from your town, too. the pf tek works, and works well, but i wouldn't recommend it for much more than personal consumption (it's served me well for personal use, though, i must say. over the past two years i've taken mushrooms at least one or two dozen times and i've only paid for them once, the first two times i shroomed, when i bought a quarter)
and any vendors that sponsor the shroomery are trustworthy. just look around and see what suits you best. i'd recommend the hawk's eye, though, i just got some from them with very quick, very good service. sorry, can't give out sources though on these forums. but if you look around for that, you'll find what i mean easily enough.
so ive been trying to grow mushrooms, and its been about two weeks since i innoculated them... but not much mold... whats wrong!!!
Well first of all, fungus is not mold, it's fungus. Mold is bad, so it's good if you don't have that. I need more specifics to help you better. Is your temperature around 80? Mushrooms need a semi-tropic environment for spawn run, at least cubies anyway, which is Im sure what you're talking about.
FreshPhish. sorry fungus, and no their not at around 80 degrees. i boiled the jars of organic brown rice flour and vermiculite, and then waited three days and innoculated them... that was about 2and a half weeks ago. but nothing is really showing up. i had to order a spore syringe off line... i just could get my hands on any spore prints.. could that be a problem?
I suppose there could be. But I don't have alot of growing experience. I would suggest going over whatever Tek you're working with again. Maybe it's just taking extra time, or you need to cold shock them like the other poster said. Did you get your spores from a reputable source?
Why do you say this? My friend *cough* probably won't try this until he moves to New Mexico in late July - so the temperature should be right = "he" probably won't need incubators. What spores have been your favorite - and easy to grow with few aborts? My friend is thinking about doing this for personal use, as he is having much trouble finding any - he has good herb suppliers but not shroomies.. But he is wondering why you say the PF TEK is more for personal consumption? Are the flushes small? On average, how many wet grams per 1st flush?
