I don't eat very healthy. I eat unnatural producs from boxes and bags. I am looking to cut out all the artificial food from my diet and eat only natural things. I also am looking to cut out meat. I believe in the food chain, but don't like how animals are being killed on a massive scale (not to mention factory farms). I am converting to the hippie lifestyle but I am finding it difficult to let go of my unnatural food products.

I have never been a big fan of veggies, but am very open-minded and am starting to get new recipes and meal ideas. I also don't like fish. So all kinds of meat will be cut from my diet.

What I am having the most trouble with is letting go of the food habits I've had my whole life. My mom buys groceries and loves her artificial foods, so I don't have a say in what she buys. Convincing her to buy a bunch of veggies will be quite a task, let alone getting her to buy fruits and nuts we usually don't get!

I'm wondering if I should I wan off of these junk foods I'm addicted to slowly?

I'm wondering how you guys changed your diet, the challenges you faced, the types of things you eat now, etc. Any ideas will help me!

    Thanks

    Peace and Harmony,

    Sarah

I get money from my mom so I can buy some things myself. But it's easier in my family because we already buy alot of veggies. My advice would be to take it slowly, start of with the least weird things and then work your way up.

If what you say is accurate, I think you ought to approach this problem in two stages. You won't be able to go veggie and natural/healthy at the same time, so pick
one, master that, and then move on to the next. If you can slowy get you parents to buy vegetables, fruits and so forth to supplement your meat-based diet, and get off the snack foods, then you'll have an excellent base from which to go veggie. I've made a similar transition, from unhealthy veggie to healthy omni, and it really does help to take it in stages. Imagine trying to stop smoking cigarettes and weed at the same time (not that you probably do either, buy you can imagine ;-P)
