I thought some people may be interested in this book. It lists 4600 campgrounds across the U.S. and has a brief description of them. Some of the more important things it lists are price and maximum length of stay. There are a good number of campgrounds listed as FREE with maximum stay of 14 days. This could be a great resource to use when planning a long, cheap camping trip across the country.
i picked this guide up at Half Price Books for 4 bucks. it's also at Barnes & Noble's online site so it might be at the stores too but they charge 16 bucks. the official title is "Coleman National Forest Campground and Recreation Directory"
Awesome thanks for the info.... Half Price Books RULES! My wife used to work at one... seriously the coolest place to work, they LOVE their employees.
FANTASTIC!! I am going in search of this book today (hopefully at a half price book store) I have been wanting a resource like this for a long time! Thanks for the info.. Love and Light Daniel
Nope, no trail maps because there are just too many small campgrounds listed and its already fairly thick. It's not perfect, but it's still a pretty good resource. Hope it helps someone out.
Thanks for the book suggestion and bookstore, draydel. I ordered it from that site yesterday, definitely cheaper thank any bookstore would have had it. This book seems like it will be a great resource for finding good places to camp.
