lol I don't know how to do it purposely. My poor jeans end up frayed all over, especially at the bottoms...I wear them a bit long and they end up frayed within weeks. So either just wear them...or washing them over and over may help. Also, you might want to snip the bottoms off...leaving an exposed fabric edge...that would probably help it along.

snip the bottom, and pick at the edges. do this when ever you are bored, in class etc... wash them frequently and let time do its stuff. also, if you don't want to eventually lose alot of lentgh, zigzag stitch where you want the fray to end.

Since I'm short, it tends to happen automatically for me. Since the new style is having pants that look like they're 20 years old, a few of my friends just took old jeans and then attacked them with sandpaper. I never got to see the result but apparently after awhile you can fray pants and make them look pretty beat up without paying $80 at the Gap or something. Snipping a little bit off the bottom would probably be easiest, however.

listen to Jamaica on the stitch.....if you forget to set a stitch where you want the fray to end it could keep running up everytime you wash.

Just cut them around the bottom...all the way around,I suppose that would be...horizontal.

its just the same as making cut off jean shorts, just longer length.
