n Baltimore, Maryland, it is not legal to take a lion to the movies.

In Staten Island, New York, You may only water your lawn if the hose is held in your hand.

In Topeka, Kansas, servers are forbidden to serve wine in teacups.

An Illinois state law requires that a man's female companion shall call him "master" while out on a date. The law does not apply to married couples.

n Los Angeles, California, it is not legal to bathe two babies at the same time in the same tub.

In the grand city of Ottumwa, Iowa, it is illegal for any man, within the corporate city limits, to wink at any female with whom he is "unacquainted."

    # NY State Laws A fine of $25 can be levied for flirting. This old law specifically prohibits men from turning around on any city street and looking "at a woman in that way." A second conviction for a crime of this magnitude calls for the violating male to be forced to wear a "pair of horse-blinders" wherever and whenever he goes outside for a stroll.
    # It is against the law to throw a ball at someone's head for fun.
    # A license must be purchased before hanging clothes on a clothesline.
    # The penalty for jumping off a building is death.
    # A person may not walk around on Sundays with an ice cream cone in his or her pocket.
    # While riding in an elevator, one must talk to no one, and fold his hands while looking toward the door.
    # Slippers are not to be worn after 10:00 P.M.

c'mon, these are important laws! We needs them

look kids you are all pickin on dsk cuz yall thinks its yer job or sompin . some of the greatest minds of the late 18th 19th and 20th centuries [ie tolstoy . prudhome , godwin , bacunin . kropotkin . malatesta , bacunin , chompski , bookshin ] agree that all ....thats absolutly all ....laws cause crime and suffering ....this may be difficult to defend for our poster ....but it is true that in spain there was an anarchist revolution based on the premis as well as the ukrain in the teens of the last century ....i believed tha all laws must be abolished to insure the future of human society [now dying from a fatal dose of athority ] when i was 13 and i still did even morewhen i was 43 ...as do millions of anarchists worldwide

well aside from the petty arguing in this forum i do have something to add.

it seems to me like all things in life that the middle road is allways the best and it is no difference for laws. On one hand we don't want pedophiles, rapists and murderers running around and on the other we don't want a bunch of people controlling our every action. In my opinion everything that is needed for society to function or doesn't contribute to another persons suffering should be legal.

I feel myself swaying for the first time... and only because I can relate to the whole prisons are a crack mentality.... my brother was in jail for almost 5 years ... uh.. I think.. he was sappose to serve 6 but got out on 2 years of parole..... and if you want to know what he did ..... he dated a girl (and was a friend of her mother) that was 1 1/2 younger then him... she was 17 and he was leagal age of 18 so when they ended the relationship she and her mom turned him in for statatory (sp?) rape and that right there is just a bunch of bull****
he lost years of his life for what some stupidass law that was probally ment for something entirely different.... anyway I'm done blowing my load....hehehe
thanks for reading this crap :)

i think our laws (USA) are skewed because of religious morals. If you bother to read Locke's 2nd treaties, you will see that he allows for punishment (even death) of transgressors in order to preserve mankind and maintain the peace. (Eventhough he believes in the christian God)

Violators of the law enter into a state of war with other men, which allows for them to punish the crime. The crime is seen as denying what God has set in action. (I'm not a christian, but I can relate most of the reasoning; liberty, property, and self-defense)

He even allows for thieves to be murdered in self-defense, because when they steal your property you cannot be certain that they will not go as far as to, also, take your life. You are justified, because you are protecting your liberty.

The problem comes in when we enter into a community, thus leaving the state of nature. We are still left with the right to property and liberty, but the right to self-defense (for the most part) is given to the community.

(There have been cases where an individual in our country (without permission) has taken action against a criminal(s), and was justified in doing so, because the community did not protect him fully, and sometimes not proportional to the other members in the same community.( I have taken this example out of context, because it in fact relates the US gov't, and not a community. But I did this for the sake of an easy explanation))

So when you are wronged, the community is supposed to punish the transgressors. And if the community is of Christian faith, they will more than likely punish the crime according to religious doctrines.

I won't go into gov't now, which comes after the community. Sorry for the long post, but this is something that truly interests me.

Any critism is welcomed, but mind that this is a topic which I am only beginning to comprehend.

We are discussing laws, even laws of nature which governs the state of nature. Theoretically, gov't (in it's purest form) is supposed to uphold those laws, but is impossible to do when you have to abide by the majority.

So, what? Fuck the law of nature too? I do not understand you stance on this subject. (I do not say for a negative purpose, I only want to understand what you mean by natural right. We might be referring to the same thing!)
