Not much, but I know that they rock! One of the best bands of the 60s in my opinion, Ginger Baker is es[ecially good. They played a reunion gig recently which I taped off TV, I'll have to watch that soon. Top band though.
I love Cream! Heavy Cream, and Live Cream were the first albums I got, but Disraeli Gears is the best! Jack Bruce has some great bass riffs, and good vocals. They cover a ton of old bluesers, as well as great writing of their own stuff. All these guys were well known before they formed Cream, and named it as the supergroup it was.
cream rocks. i was listing to disreali gears this morring. tales of brave ulysees and swablar are some of my favorite songs.
They put out two a-little-better-than-average psychedelic albums, Goodbye isnt very good, and then are somehow considered one of the best of the 60s... haha. The only reason they're famous is because of "Sunshine of Your Love", which imo isn't nearly their best song. They're a very overrated band.... but still better than Clapton solo!
Anyone for Tennis has a wicked feel to it, and Badge i agree with chuck that they are better than solo Clapton, but probobly just as good as Blind Faith imo
there are plenty of good trios that compare with cream... but they were mighty awesome. what sort of stuff are you trying to track down, surely it cant be that hard
come on man, theyre famous for way more than Sunshine of Your Love, Crossroads was one that saw them well, White Room, Strange Brew... all very popular songs
those are popular songs but sunshine of your love is the one that everyone knows the one that really got them recoginzed.
-You seems to forget that they were hugely successfull in the States and for much more than "Sunshine for you love"...this song is great but they record more than 10 others even better... And Jimi Hendrix was a great fan... -I'm into "Wheels of Fire" now that i found better to "Disrealy gears"... the 2/3 of Disrealy Gears is really in competiton to be maybe the best album of 1967 but the last few songs of the album are sadly not from the same level. I found "Wheels of Fire" more equal from A-side to B-side. -I like the 1st one too, "Fresh Cream", but it still more traditional blues in a few songs, they were less progressive, and it's natural for a late 66 album -"Goodbye" is not serious stuff...the band had split up...before the project... But they record it too thanx their fan...it's just a last little gift...
Cream were great, obviously. I think Eric had the idea that they were to be modeled around the Buddy Guy blues trio format with him as the lead man until he realised that Jack had this great voice. Their early raw blues stuff is my favourite. I think the personality clashes did spur them on in the early days to push themselves to the limit performance wise, then I think it got a little too self-important and bloated towards the end, which is probably why they all wanted out... Oh, and the fact they were all at each other's necks!
The title of the album, Disraeli Gears, was actually a bit of an inside joke. Eric had been thinking of getting a racing bike, and was discussing it with Ginger, when Mick Turner, one of the roadies, commented on the performance of "those Disraeli Gears" meaning to say "derailleur gears". The lads thought this was hilarious and decided that it should be the title of their next album. Had it not been for Mick, the album would simply have been entitled, Cream.
I like Cream's first two efforts, but their later work was a disappointment and a rip-off for their fans, really. They just kept re-doing the same old things and adding extremely boring live versions of the same old songs to their later albums. They deserve respect, though.
cream were one of the greatest bands ever! i dont listen to any other clapton stuff except the stuff he did with cream.
