What Makes Someone "Pretty" or "Hot"?

ive been contemplating this a while and i am confused i mean what truly makes someone be appealing to someone else. i see ugly people and im like why do they strike me as ugly or hot people and i ask why they strike me as hot. i mean ive seen girls with all of the features i can think of good but i still think they are ugly and girls with all the features i think of as ugly and i think they look good.

 

It's symmetry. The more symetrical someone's face/body is, the more attractive they are. They've done studies on it.

This is definitely not true in all cases. In generally I am not at all attracted to people who have symmetrical features. I prefer people to have "flaws" I think that's what makes their faces interesting. And I am attracted to people who have interesting faces.

Personality really plays a huge role in whether or not I find someone physically attractive. If someone is a jerk or a dumbass, I just will not find them attractive no matter what their features are.

Yep....same here mostly... especially the personality part.

 

Ive wondered about this myself. But alot of times with me the girls I think r beautiful other guys are like are you blind? so I guess it depends on the person and ur outlook on life, and the way you look at people, either by personality(how they act) or souly on what they look like, Its impossible for me to go just by looks, because for me the personality comes out. But thats just me.

 

I really don't know what make someone pretty or hot. Actually, my definitons of "pretty" and "hot" are different. "Hot," to me, is all visual. A girl could have the personality of slime, yet be hot. But that doesn't mean I'll be attracted to her, because I won't.

Pretty... I don't quite know my definition of pretty. Imperfections can be pretty.

 

A persons mind makes them hot to me...you take the "hottest" girl ever and plot her against the most "intellectual" girl and i choose the mind and personality i dig a smart mamma with a mind and aint afraid to use it

Personally I am lobsided and have an extra eye so everyone I look at is judged from the perspective of a Simpsons cartoon. Very exciting.

 

there have already been a couple of threads about what turns people on, so i'm not going to repeat my preferences, beyond saying that, to some extent, there is a certain "type" i consistantly fall for - in a nutshell, young, skinny, brainy eccentrics with brown eyes and curls. and virgos. goddamn virgos always break my heart!

however, on an individual level, it's much harder to pin down. i've fallen for older, "teddy-bear" types with "keep conversation simple and use small words" intellects as well. i'd have to agree that personality has a lot to do with it. however, there have been times i was almost instantly attracted to someone, only to get to know them later and discover their personality either drove me up a wall, or turned me on even more.

sometimes it's little unexplainable things. the guy who just broke my heart - he's quite the individual. thinking about it, i guess a lot of people would find him rather funny-looking, and he has a rather weird style. but one day i was sitting at a table with him, and he reached across the table to pick something up...i don't know if it was the way he moved his beautiful, delicate hands, or the sound of his voice, or what, but all of a sudden out of a clear blue sky he was the sexiest thing i'd ever seen! later on when i found out how much offbeat values & beliefs we had in common, well it was like i'd been hit with something.

me I think I am the ugly one I take a ugly one any day of the week why I am uglt and I like them that way I had a fer hot baby in my time allwas some else take them away soo I stay with the not so hot and ugle one's greenie

 

Pretty is someone with a great personality, hot is someone with a great body.

 

so what is it when they have both
