Besides for coffee, chocolate and pot am pretty much a health freak. (vegan too) I am trying to cut out the things in my diet which take control of me. Like coffee. When the bad outweigh's the good. I have been a coffee drinker for about 4 years, pretty addicted and just all round love it. but its controlling me. it wakes my mind up and shoots down my body. i feel lethargic and horrible. probably a big cause of my insomnia too. Im on my 4th day with no caffeine/coffee. MY head feels like it is going to explode. I went to sleep before to escape it, and woke feeling like i was seriously going to die. I know people say you should cut down slowely to avoid this but i can never do that! Ill just add that i have not had chocolate either. I guess the only thing i really don't wanna give up is the pot, except i dont want to be dependant on it for getting to sleep at night. im interested to hear if anyone has similar situations or has tried something like this before..
oooooh coffee..... holy cow i am so addicted to coffee (since high school)--i've gone straight edge (no smoking, no drugs..) and coffee F***S me up/is a drug, so i'm giving it up...its the hardest thing EVER for me. its the best thing to do, though, personally, since caffeine just makes my head crazy. seriously. good luck on your quest to give it up! the headaches are the worst!!!!!!!!!! try a fast...it may curb your desire for the brown stuff!
I drink a lot of coffee, but then sometimes I Just go without it. And I don't get headaches anymore! Good luck!
yer i find i just feel turned down wihtout coffee or sometimes theres a headache but i can live with it.
If I'm remembering correctly, green tea has a third less caffeine than coffee. It has just enough caffeine to keep me from getting a headache if I decide not to have coffee for a while. I highly recommend it to use to ease the withdrawal symptoms. You can gradually wean yourself off caffeinated tea then, and replace it with decaf. OR, you could try decaffeinated coffee to help wean yourself off.
Obvious I know but drink loads of water to keep your system flushed and some fresh fruit juice for the vitamin C. I'm just guessing at that 'cos it seems to help if you're giving up smoking.
Good job littlemistymop! I quit caffeine a month or two ago. Never had headaches too bad, but have faith, you're nearly done with the withdrawal stage. Soon you will be feeling great and full of energy, not dependant on a chemical for that.
