I know there are patterns out there... I dont know where... My Mom (well not my real mom just anouther woman i call Mom) Makes them for her dogs... She got a pattern from somewhere.... So they are out there

You could also try doll clothes.. I dont know who big or small your dog is... But try altering a cabbage patch shirt or a small child shirt... the nickline will probably have to be bigger for a dog..

...Clothes for dogs? That's a very amusing concept to me! So, are there only clothes for SMALL dogs? Or or... Could I make something for my 80-something pound dog? I'm very intrigued now, by the way.

I've seen some places that have doggy clothes for 80 something pounds dogs. Most of the time they go from really tiny to really large for dogs.

Oooooh.. God, I want like... A tie dyed shirt for my dog. Because she looks big and mean (shepherd/chow mix doesn't make for the sweetest looking doggy), but I want people to know that she's sweet and loving and a doggy hippy at heart! Wow, I'm a loser.

They make clothes for giant breeds as well. I will be having to look into getting some, because I am getting a Great Dane (and they only have a very thin layer of fur, so they get cold easy, like humans). When I take her for walks in the cold weather, she will need a sweater. :)

For your dog you might be able to get away with using human clothes. Try an adult small or medium.

    God, I'm so excited!

And you're getting a Dane? Ooh, they're so cute! My boyfriend's sister has one (and even though she's blind as anything, and quite mean now) and she's... God, so cute. Sorry, I sound like a moron. I'm planning on getting a giant breed when I get my own apartment in like a year, and I just have this... Insane obsession with them.

Gah, I'm jealous of you! I suppose I can wait a year, eh? (Sorry for the rambling, I'm kiiiind of tired and/or stoned I talk incessantly)

Hm... I doubt it. I mean, they have fur so I doubt that they're too happy with it? I've seen some tiny dogs (the ones that people carry round) with clothes and they didn't seem to care. But, they also never had to walk, so of course they'd be happy, right?

LOL... I know, I have a bit of an obsession with them too. I am waiting until after I move, in a few months, why pay two pet deposits? But I SOOOO want to get one. I've done a lot of research about different breeds and the Dane is the best one for me. Low energy, indoor pet, great disposition, loves to cuddle. The only bad thing about them is that they have short life spans, the average is 5-7 years. But I've heard that the love that they bring to your life outweighs the grief of their loss and many people end up getting Dane after Dane after Dane, for the rest of their lives! We'll see how I get through the loss of the first one, but I just might be a lifetime Dane owner! :)

I think that its like collars... When you first put them on, they don't like them... But, after a while they get used to it.

Some breeds are meant to be kept indoors and they don't have thick fur, so they have comfort levels much like a human. Danes and Pugs are two that I'm sure of, but I know there are more. So, if the weather outside is extreme, you need to make provisions for them, like you would for yourself.

Jackets and shoes in the cold, and lots of water and shade in the heat.

Feed quality food and your dog will live much longer. It is expensive but in the long run it is better for your dog. Look into Solid Gold food. The creator is a dane breeder and it was created for them. Have you met a dane before? They can be the sweetest dogs with humans but tend to be aggressive with other dogs and can be overwhelmed by small children.( I work at a dog daycare so I see a lot of dogs) Are you geting your dane from a quality breeder?

There are some pretty simple patterns out there for dog clothes from Simplicity, Butterick. You can find them at Joann's. I have made some shirts for my dog (a mostly dachshund mixed breed), he will wear them for a while before he gets uncomfortable. I think some dogs just don't care when you put clothes on them.

Boyfriend's sister's Dane is like... 9, so, yeah, like someone else said, just feed them good food and take care of them and they should last a long time! They are suuuch sweet dogs and about the kid thing that someone mentioned, if you expose them to lots of kids when they're puppies (take em to the park, walk around the neighborhood and let kids pet them, etc.), they tend to be a little more comfortable around children when they're adults.

I know you don't care, but I'm getting a Saint Bernard (because I'm moving to the mountains/snow, etc.) and my adoration of big ol' giant doggies is growing a little bit every day as it gets closer to the time I actually get it. Gaaaah! *excitement*

I have two dogs...and no they don't like any type of clothing. Mine have shirts, sweaters, capes(lol I sew so I make them things),and some cool little hats. They hate them all. I usually dress them up just long enough to take some pics.

Okay... So how about clothes for my cat? I'd really like to make her some clothing. She'll hate them, of course, but I won't leave them on long... just long enough for a picture.

I got this out of a search in google, but this is exactly how my yorky looks like. The adult yorky's normal weight is 5 lbs and my yorky is abiout 1 lbs. I have taken pics of her but I havent developed them yet. Isn't she adorable? Yorkies are known to be indoor dogs and never outside, they are very prissy or very touchy about where they step or their environment. Also they are very sensitive and they love to be spoiled and pampered. What you guys think? Im excited with her and I love to play with her all the time. She's also the type of dog that should be carried in your hand or in a roomable bag. But I like it when she runs around and plays and then wants to sleep with her two mamas.lol. I love animals so much.

I bear scars from attempting to dress our cat to amuse the children. Needless to say, Japper was not amused
