I got my one and only piercing -- my left earlobe -- when I was 17. I was at the mall with two friends who already had the same piercing -- it had been a fad in our school for the year or two prior. I had wanted to get it done because I liked the way it looked, and I liked the idea of having some object in me like that, but I resisted because I saw it as going along with the fad, and I don't like doing that.

So in the summer after I finished high school (still 17 until the first month of college), we were in this store in the mall, kind of a head shop, and we were looking at cases that had earrings in them. None of the three of us was looking harder than I was, oddly enough because I had no earring hole! I still know the day and date: it was Thursday, July 13, 1989.

When I spotted a hanging earring that I liked -- it was like an antiqued copper looking Aztec-idol kinda guy with big fangs (imagine the stuff found in the jungle carved out of stone, at the beginning of "Raiders of the Lost Ark") -- I called to my friends, "Guys, should I get my ear pierced?" They were like, "Yeah!" So I just... did.

I remember the girl using that gun thingie on my ear, after I put a magic marker dot where I wanted the hole. I remember it sure didn't hurt very much, just a pinch/throb thing, like if someone had thwacked you with a ruler or something.

I have this attitude toward piercings... My one singular piercing is like a mystical thing, to me. I would get others done but I kind of don't want to "ruin" the singularity of having that mystical number -- one.

I have considered getting a nipple done, and also my penis. I even had a very vivid dream of having the ridge of the head of my penis pierced with a barbell. I woke up and strongly considered what it meant, and thought hard about getting a hoop put there, but I have not done so. I really would prefer to wait -- if I do it at all -- until I could do it with a lover beside me, but I currently don't have one! :( And even then, I'm not sure I would get it done. There's still that thing I have about going past one, to ruin the one-ness. Being pierced once has meaning to me. Once it's past one piercing, they lose specialness and uniqueness. But that's just me. Y'all get as many as you want.

Has anyone ever seen or heard of someone having the webbing between their toes pierced? I imagine it would be a very great challenge, not just from the standpoint of pain (shit that'd have to hurt!) but also about keeping it uninfected. Perhaps that's why you never see it...

    Blue skies,
    -Jeffrey

My first (professional) peircing was on my 18th birthday.. I had my eyebrow peirced, and I loved the way it felt so much that I had my labret peirced a month later. My eyebrow needs repeirced though, because I accidently pulled it out while I was combing my hair. In fact, I might get it peirced twice. I don't know yet. Other than that, I used to stick safety pins through any spot on my body that I could reach.

i peirced my own ears, the second holes were last year, and i had a third one but it migrated because i played with it so much, so to prevent it some catching on something and tearing out i just took it out.

but my first professional peircing was my septum and then my tonuge about 2 minutes afterwards. painful yes, but i love them so much. i haven't even had them for that long, and my parents told me specifically not to get them done, so what did i do? i went out and got it done... :D

The first thing I ever peirced was my left nipple. I did it with a safety pin and a bag of ice. I thought it was a good thing but after my friend pulled it my peircing got infected. It was quite the experience though. Since then I have had both nipples peirced, my ear, my nose and my tounge peirced twice. I eventually took them all out (which was a mistake because I miss them dearly) but I am thinking about getting some more modifications. I haven't been tattooed yet but hopefully this summer I will be getting my first. I also like the idea of a forked tounge and maybe someday will get it done.

When you pierced you nipple with a safety pin, was the safety pin what you left in? Or did you put a piece of jewelry through the hole?

See, that's what I don't know and understand about piercings. When they use a needle, how do they get the actual piece of jewelry you're gonna wear through?

P.S. People, it's about time that anyone who has their tongue pierced learns how to spell tongue, okay? T-O-N-G-U-E. Got it? Good.

I've had my ears pierced several times-using every kind of metal made for the job. But they have always been rejected, quite painfully. I finally decided that my body just didn't like having metal in it.

Then I was talking to someone about piercings and they had mentioned that their sister couldn't have her ears pierced, but her nose was fine. Since I had been wanting to get my nose done for several years, this piqued my interest.

My sister is an RN and she does body piercing on the side. Since I told her that story, she has been saving a nose stud for me. I finally broke down and decided that I didn't care what the people at work thought. I was getting my nose pierced no matter what. If I rejected it, then I would know that my body truly cannot have metal in it.

About two months ago my sis pierced my nose with a cute little diamond stud. And it's still there. :) I followed her advice of rinsing the piercing three times a day with salt water, until it stopped hurting (it took less than a week). And now it is great. It still hurts when it gets accidentally pulled out, but most of the time I forget that it's even there.

Jeffrey~the needle that they use is sort of two-ended. It has the side that goes through the skin, and the other side holds the jewelry. They pierce the skin and then draw the jewelry through.

Piercings done with a needle are MUCH LESS painful than piercings with that horrible gun. I have had my ears done with both the gun and the needle. I'll take the needle any day.

The worst part with my nose piercing was putting the jewelry in. The piercing itself hurt a little but not bad. Putting the jewelry in made my eye water and say "ouch".

I remember getting my ears peirced the second time. They used a gun and it didn't go all the way through my ear so they PUSHED it through...talk about painful!

I only ever had my ears done (much to my Mum's horror I did myself with the pin I stuck in boiling water off the back of a badge) untill I left home. Then at 17 I wanted my nose done, so again I did it myself (properly this time though, not with a rusty old badge pin!! Lol!!) This time because I was a broke-ass student living in my own privately rented house which was bloody expensive and working part time as a bar maid didn't pay much, so I was trying to econimise!!! Lol!! 2yrs ago I did my own lip peircing myself too, this time just because, well I've had the practice!! Lol!! I know what I am doing so why would I bother going out of my way to a studio and pay someone to do what I can do at home instantly?? As soon as I feel like it. Well I still have my piercings and I can honestly say I have NEVER had any problem with them. Not ever, not even once.

Also got my first tattoo on my upper back inbetween my sholders, well TWO actually, done on the 1st March this year (which is what would have been my first Son's 4th birthday) so the 1st tatoo was done for my 1st Son who died 2 years ago, in memory of him. The second tattoo that I got at the same time is in celebration of the birth of my second Son. They're two slightly abstract, swirley footprints that I designed myself. A footprint for each child. I plan to add a another footprint per child if I ever go on to have anymore, who can know?? So if I have 1 more child, I'll get 1 more footprint for that baby. If I have 5 more children, I'll get 5 more footprints for those children,...I think you probably get the idea!! Lol!!

I also just got my second signature picture below done as a tattoo.... (the moon goddess since my 'hippie' name is "Goddess Moon" it truely is my 'signature piece') ....and I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!

I had my bellybutton done in December and I heard from friends that they get infected very easily but I didnt have one problem at all with mine. I cleaned it with salt water 2-3 times a day for about 6 weeks and it healed perfectly. I love how it looks and I wanna get my nipples pierced soon..How easily do they heal?

I was told anywhere from 4 to 8 months, and clean it once or twice a day with salt water for the first month or so, then as needed afterwards (at least once a week... I usually clean them about three or four times a week now because I forget to clean them every day). So probably not unlike your bellybutton... cleaning techniques/frequency as recommended by your piercer. My guy said it can irritate them to clean them too much, hence no more than twice a day though I doubt doing it three times a day would have much of an adverse affect other than maybe making it take longer to heal.

I got my ears pierced as a baby, but they eventually closed up so I got them pierced again when I was about 14 or 15. Didn't hurt at all. I got my belly button pierced. Hurt like a bitch, and I took it out so I have a little brown dot to remind me of it. I would like to get it pierced again. I also want more piercings on my ears but the things is... i hardly ever wear earrings! haha

My first piercing was my 2 lobes at 11, after that nipples at 15 (took them out coz they were pierced wrong), another 2 lobes at 15, cartilidge at 16, tongue at 16, nipple again at 20 and my lip done on Friday! I love it! Although my mum went MENTAL and didn't speak to me for the whole weekend, I don't care. Well worth it!! I'm stretching my lobes now as well.

Mom took me and got my ears pierced when I was 1. I went against my parents wishes a few years ago when I was 18 and got my navel pierced. I went again at 20 and got both my nipples pierced but took them out a month later because they just looked funny on me. I'm seriously interested in getting my nose pierced now though. I'm still waiting to see what hubby thinks though. I don't want to get this thing on my nose that he won't like. Not worth it if he's just going to annoy me about it lol ;).

Forgot to mention that when I got my nipples pierced I was so lucky to have gone to one of the only female piercers in town, and she was wonderful about it. She measured and lined everything up for a good 5 minutes before she pierced each nipple. And she even went so far as to make sure I knew that even though it looked like she was piercing them crooked, it was intentional because she said they'd move a bit after a little while and be straight...which they did :). She was seriously the best piercer I'd ever seen though. Out of all the ones I'd seen pierce my roommate and much nicer than the one who did my navel.

I had my ears done at 15 at a mall store.

My first real piercing was my nostril at 19 in college. Pretty standard, except I see very few guys with it. Its still my favorite piercing and I think its flattering on both sexes.

Then I got my tongue pierced, but took it out because it was driving me nuts.

Got a small tattoo on my leg. Nothing really big, but it started my ink addiction. then I added some more work to the legs. Total of about 11hours of inking.

I just got my nips pierced too.

Nothing major, but I'm thinking about starting a full back piece and I eventually want sleeves when I decided if my career will work with it. I'm also very interested in a suspension.

    Peace
