O GOd. I have been using this stuff forever and all the sudden, it decides not to do its job anymore. I am sensitive to deoderants, i tried my moms Secret and it made my armpits itch to hell. Like horrible for a week no matter how i washed. So i tried Dove after that and it worked fine, but now not even 5 min. after using it i smell like i just ran a marathon. I have a job interview and just realized how awful my new shirt i am wearing for it smells, this made me realize that the deoderant i just applied sucks. And i am pissed my groovy shirt is ruined... i cannever get B.O. out of shirts. I'm not bashing Dove because i DO like their products, im just pissed it ruined my shirt and im going to smell like shit all day (i cant put on a dif. deoderant because i dont know what one to use, i am afraid of having a reaction) so does anyone know of any good deoderants that actually work and might not make me itch so badly? i'm afraid to try different ones out and see, because the effect they have if they react with me is just not worth it. I just want a good one that doesnt have a scent to it, i hate for my armpits to have any scent at all, even a good one...so what do you ladies use that works for you?
I use Kiss my Face liquid crystal deodorant...there is an unscented version of that. The natural deodorants may work better on you as far as allergic reactions go, but there is no real guarantee, as it depends on what you are allergic to. Also, some work better than others as far as odor control goes. Burt's Bees makes a good deodorant too....you may need to experiment a bit. Good luck!
Yeah, I used Dove in the past and it really didn't work any better than if I hadn't worn it at all. At least it didn't dry out my skin like other deoderants. But it still doesn't work well. Now I'm just carefull to wash really good under my armpits. But with summer coming up, I don't know if that's going to make a difference. I sweat quite a lot. I like Dove shampoo, though.
you could try toms naturals. i dig their toothpaste and mouthwash though i've never used their deoderant (because it's just deoderant and not an anti-persperant). so i don't know how well it would work, but it is natural and unscented so it would probably make you itch less.
I use Tom's and I love it. It smells really good (even though you can get unscented, but the scented is so fresh and clean smelling)...it isn't an anti-perspirant, but I don't really care about sweat stains or anything... It's really easy on my skin...after I shave, I can apply it and it doesn't burn.
I use Calvin Klein's unisex deodorant, it's smells really good and works really well and doesn't irritate my skin at all. And it lasts forever. Well.. for a very long time anyway.
I have the exact same problem, what with certain deodorants making me break out. I've found that Degree works really well and doesn't give me any armpit rashes!
I use the crystal and my 13 y-o son (you know goat smell age?) uses Tom's woodland. works well for him.
I used Tom's of Maine, it doesn't work at all. I like my stink though. So I now use unscented Almay Clear gel, if I don't want to smell like B.O. Good Luck!
maggie, my son visits dad all summer, so I have 3 months to air out/ fumigate/ sage smoke his room, and just when I notice a difference, I'm at the airport picking him up. between the FEET that gassed wisconsin tothe hidden laundry trick, this kid is funky in a bad way. I almost look forward to the day i smell pot in there.
I use the crystal rock thingy. Works very well, and lasts forever too, will sting a bit if you shave but for the most part I've found it not to irritate my sensitive skin. I've also used Kiss My Face liquid rock deoderants in different scents and they work great too, if you don't mind waiting half an hour for your pits to dry. I hated the gunkiness of "regular" deoderants and like you, had reactions to many of them. Dove also turned out to be one I could stand to use before I went 100% crystal rock. The crystal rock is awesome cuz it washes off so easily when needed, you can just reapply without washing pits if in a hurry and works fine, and it doesn't come off on clothes at all. Ever since I've used it, I have not been afraid to wear colored tanks. Plus, if you're a furry chica, it doesn't gunk up your pit hair.. it flows nice and freely.
Have you ever tried baking soda? Being "sensitive" to many fragrances and man-made ingredients found in today's miracle products, I can sympathize with your plight.... I have used plain old common baking soda for LOTS of things for years.... ...you can brush your teeth with it... ...you can "exfoliate" your face with it.... (...you can clean lots of things around the house with it...) ...and you can dust it on your pits (and other parts that tend to get damp)... It won't keep you from sweating, but it will absorb a surprising amount of perspiration, and the associated odor... I've never known it to damage fabrics - but if you sweat a lot, you may need to reapply it now & then to avoid perspiration stains on delicate fabrics... (it will put white dust on your black shirt, if you let the outside of your shirt rub against your pits putting it on - but it dusts right off...) (It won't "gunk-up" fuzzy pits, either...) You might want to give it a try - I've never heard of anyone being sensitive or allergic to it....and it sells for about 50 cents A POUND... (if you don't like it as a pit-dust, you can use it to polish your genuine silver jewelry, put it in your your refrigerator or down the drain or sprinkle it in the cat-box to de-stink them....clean your counter and cutting board with it...you get the idea...
