shooting "wild" cats

i found out that they're thiking about making it legal to shoot cats that are roaming and dont have a collar (even if they are owned). ARE THESE PEOPLE CRAZY! it seems america is becoming SO stupid! gay books ban, killing cats, THEY'RE ALREADY KILLING RABBITS IN MISSION VIEJO! it'a like lives dont matter. im so shocked i dont even know what to say. here's some links

I don't see the problem as long as the meat isn't wasted. Cats taste great.

okay that's disturbing... sure feral cats (or pet cats that roam) can be an annoyance but good god, maybe we should tag people next and all other animals and start shooting them as well. *eye roll*

Ah you're acting like a victim of the belief that since cats used to be a sign of witchcraft they are satanic. Or maybe you've had bad experiences with them. Cats know if someone doesn't like them and will play that up.

I've had feral cats spend hours with me and you would think they were the tamest things... course I did have a fawn play with me for and hour as well

 

it's crazy, isnt it? it's like "i dont like the cats eating in the trash cans beacuse that's dirty (even though they are eating whats left of our uneededly wasted food, even though people are dirty themselves). they dont like the fact that they make noise, and fight, and "smell." whats next, exterminating the homeless? im SURE there's people who want to. its fucknig stupid.

 

Yeah population control is a dumb idea. I like to see little kitties starve to death or freeze in the winter that is much more pleasent to the eyes. Have you ever seen a cat frozen to death I have and it isn't the most pleasent thing to see I prefer putting animals out of their misery. This law is for farmers in wisconson to rid the cat as a preditor to live stock .

 

The gov of Wisconsin has promised to veto any such bill, saying that the state was "embarrassing itself". This might have been a slam on neighbor Minnesota, who has allowed cat hunting for many years.

It's horrible to kill the animals! Whatever they are roaming or not, it is very very horrible! They don't attack and aren't biting!
My friend's mother found a sleeping cat in the front of the house's door. She gave it a milk to drink.
Afterwards, when she opened the door second time she found 1 lary(This is about 2$)

You have to understand the problems with feral cats (especially in cities). They breed like crazy and become a nuisance, not to mention they die tragically every winter (or all the time with cars).

Same goes for rabbits (or bunnies as you softies like to say). I'm generally against taking life where it isn't necessary, but with many natural predators hunted out (thank you livestock holders...) the prey populations boom and then overeat the countryside, where they die in large numbers. Also, they end up in farmer's fields causing lots of damage. I'm more in favor of reintroducing natural predators like wolves and coyotes and foxes, but most people are leery about having large predatory animals in the neighborhood. This is why we have large deer hunts in the winter; no wolves are left to eat them, so rather than have them destroy all the trees and then still starve to death, it's better to cull the herd.

 

Stray cats wreck havoc on an ecosystem. Never want to see a bird or squirrel in your neighborhood again? Let out a bunch of strays...

 

Now I have to shot cats and shit all cause you guys will not spay and neuter your pets.

I'm sorry but you have to realize that our kitties are major and i mean MAJOR predators of all sorts of small animals. Squirels, snakes, lizards and birds to name a just a few.

I would personally prefer to save the lives of those naturally occuring animals than of an introduced predator from the old world.

 

ya, but there are TONS of birds, and it's much more natural for them to kill a bird than it is for us to shoot them because we dont like them around. cats dont really know what they're doing (from what i've seen., i have a cat and she seems to naturally just want to fight with birds). i dont live in the CITY, but i live in a pretty populated area, and i've definetly seen them in tthe city, in the trash, romaing around, going into peoples yards (when the people have yards). they try to fight things all the time. but so do humans. humans kill at leat 3 animals each day(or at least they supprt the killing of them by eating meat) , litter, cause problems to their community,.... they are worst than stray cats. should they all be shot also? (some might say yes, and i think it would be fair ifd your gonna shoot the cats). what the hell! i see animal lives the same as humans, and thie if fuckngn stupid!

That's terrible! Why do us Humans think we have the right to kill other species. Maybe someday some species will thnk humans are a nuisance and start killing us!

 

There are also TONS of housecats, and they are not native unlike the birds.

I wont disagree that humans are worse, an example of this would be not spaying our pets and letting them roam around and produce more strays until the situation is out of control and all the cute geckos that used to roam on the outside walls of your house are no more.

Look, I am an animal lover. I own 2 cats, a dog, a parrot, a tarantula, and fish up the wazoo. Besides the parrot and the tarantula, they are all fixed. I do my part not to contribute to the stray problem. But others have not, and probably never will. These cats are not native and wreck havoc on ecosystems. They are super-predators in neighborhoods. Being nice to these strays means being mean to the native species in the area, and I give preference to the natives. We don't live in a utopia where we can tie bows on all the animals of the world and shower them with kisses. Ya, cats are the innocents in this situation - they're just doing what they do, but in every day lives innocents all over the globe in every species are getting the shit end of the stick. We can always "coulda, shoulda, woulda" but that doesn't solve the current feral cat problems that are in just about every city/suburb/and rural area.
