i was wondering if anybody has experience with childbirth with little or no medications, and how they got through it... any stories on birthing classes, that sort of thing. i'm really curious and i couldn't find what i was looking for in the threads, but links to a helpful thread would be cool too thanks!
no i'm not pregnant. i knew somebody would ask, i guess i should have clarified that in the first post... i've been attending a sexuality class that is ending on labor and childbrith and it's just been on my mind lately.. probably because of the class
i have 3 children. 2 of them i had 100% natural. i have really easy labor and delivery. i felt so much better too after doing it all natural. i felt horrible for a week after having my first with pain killers. when i went in to have my 3rd child, the nurse was questioning me. "would you like any pain killers? i noticed it's left blank" and i LAUGHED! "no way. i'm going to do it natural." same with my 2nd, i was joking, talking, and laughing with everyone until it was time to push. i had done kegal exercises all through all 3 pregnancies. i think that really helped. 1st baby i was in labor for about 6 hours pushed for almost 2 hours. 2nd baby i was in labor for about 6 hours again and pushed for.. 6 MINUTES! 3rd.. not really sure because i was have strong "false" contractions for 3 months before i gave birth to her. i only pushed for 10 minutes with her. after having my 3rd the doctor told me if i was going to have a 4th he wanted to film it. "thats a text book birth, how every woman should do it. how every woman wishes it would go" ahaha i'm not having a 4th.
I applaud all of you that didn't use drugs, I lasted as long as I could without them, I couldn't do it. I was in sooooooooooo much pain. you all are such strong woman!!!!!
I really liked the book "Birthing From Within: An extra-ordinary guide to childbirth preparation". The website is: www.birthingfromwithin.com Also, there are some good forums on natural chilbirth and other natural family topics at the mothering dot commune. That website is: Natural Childbirth- http://www.mothering.com/discussions/forumdisplay.php?f=18 Natural Family and all other topics- http://www.mothering.com/discussions
I had my oldest son naturally, no pain meds or epidurals. I used the breathing techniques I learned in Lamaze class to help. With my twins, my son was born naturally, no pain meds or epidurals, and I used a lot of breathing exercises and imagery. My daughter had to be taken by cesarean. I'm not going to lie to you. It hurt. But using imagery really, really helped during the hardest times. And in the end, I felt pretty proud that I had been able to get through it, like it was a right of passage to motherhood.
