Their feet act out running; their faces display the hunt. I've always assumed that dreams (at least for animals) are a preparation - a honing of skills.

Could it be somewhat the same in human dreams?

I've never watched a sleeping cat (for starters, I'm allergic), but I imagine human dreams are the honing of skills as well. My guess is that cats are replaying things they've seen and experienced, sort of like downloading a whole lot of stuff from their minds. I'm convinced that human dreams operate in the same way.

I too believe they assimilate the lessons of the day. But, when you own a kitten or puppy that has no mom to teach it, they still learn in their dreams, and you know something 'higher' is at work. If dreams, in humans, are also a preparation, what are we preparing for - nothingness or somethingness?

We're being prepared for whatever comes in the future, and I tend to think of it as something.

Thanks, SageDreamer. I have a keen appreciation for a positive attitude in my fellow man. Sadly, too many on this forum believe in the nothingness - that we cease at death. I believe there is something on the other side. I've seen it out of the corner of my eye.
