thought i'd ask some of the long time growers for any tips on flushing/harvesting ... how do you do it? how long for? i've read things like some people turn the lights of for 3 weeks whilst flushing? does anyone here do anything like that, and if so why do you turn the lights off - whats that do? i flushed the last grow for a couple of weeks, then just chopped without any dark time, left to dry for a few days with the big leaves on, removed the big leaves after a few days ( seemend to be taking ages to dry ), and then when the stems were snapping instead of bending i trimmed the smaller leaves and jared it up to cure. anything more i could be doing or anything better?
If you've the time and paitence, start the cure without pre drying the bud. It will taske longer and need closer watching, but it's worth it. Also, the dark while flushing is useless. the presence of light and no nuits will cause to plant to use stored resources- effectively pre-curing the plant. If you wish to dry than cure, cut the individual buds off the plant for a quicker dry.
thanks geckopelli. when you say start the cure without pre drying, do you mean jar them up still kinda fresh? i take i'd really need to keep an eye on them, open them up everyday and exchange the air, keep the mould away?
Yes- but NO pre-drying. Open the jar twice a day for the first week or so, and pour the water out. And stuff the jar full- leave only a little airspace.
