Hello all you beautiful dready peoples

So glad to have wandered over to this side of the world and into dready heaven! I've been reading and looking through all the posts and pics and I'm keen to start dreads in my hair. Especially since a lot of people seem to have grown theirs really quickly, cool!

Well I only have really short hair, about 4 inches all over and its thick with a natural wave to it. About 6 months ago now I was tossing up whether to pay someone to dread my long, long locks or cut it all off short.

I obviously chose the later:) but at the time I thought

"as soon as it grows back I'll let it go dready"

But now, hopefully with a bit of guidence from you groovers, I'm thinking what the heck I may as well start now even though my hair is only short!

I'm thinking it will dread pretty easily and my hair grows really fast, (i could get it cut it every 3 weeks) but I'm wondering will it work out from such a short length, guess i'll have to try it and see! Keep Smiling:D

    peace

    August x

I started my dreads at 4 inches, but my hair was preeetty curly. It takes much more maintenance than longer locks do. However, if you're dedicated, you can do it!

By the way.. My hair grows about as quickly as yours, so it seems.

I think you could start now. I would just stop combing and conditioning the hair. Find an all natural shampoo that wont leave residue. The rest the hair will take care of. Just remember that it takes alot of patience and there will be times over the first few months you will wont to shave em all off. But just fight through those days, it is worth it! And NO WAX!!!!

    Happy Dreading

Yeah right I've been reading the warnings here about using wax!!

So even to start them it's not a good idea? Should be fun!!;)

I was checking out dreaddyboy products yesterday. . .

But just waiting and letting it go feral sounds like more fun anyway!

    peace for now :p

Def. do not use wax. It actually slows down the dreading process. They look "neater" but only cause they are held together by wax, as soon as you stop using wax they with start to pull apart and do there own thing anyway!

    Happy Dreading

My name is Tanja, and I just discovered this dread head forum. And I have been on this Forum since quite a while...

My dreads are about 6 years old ( I was 17), I started them with wax,but never used it again (out of lazyness) and now I saw what it does to the dreads!! ewww!

I am an art student, I'd love to live in tunisia one day, I come from germany... hm what else is there to say..? Just ask :)
