Hey, well i been going to school, but this senoir year i didnt. Dont ask me why but anyways. . . I live in california, and theres this CALIFORNIA PROFESINSY(whoa sp there, im tired) TEST, and I think they also have it in Winsconsin and Texas. I guess its like a GED but you can take it when your 16 and i think its like simmaliar to a high school diploma. Does anybody know about this? Also, we might move out of California soon..so If i might just take my ged somewhere. But i DO want to college..not a fancy standford one, just an average one, and I want to be in like theatere/dance/writing and stuff..and my friend took the SATS, and I guess thats for college! So, I was wondering...If I get my 'Ca profiessny test' or GED...any time soon..can I take the sats? Like, can I take the SATS BEFORE I Get a ca profieseny test or a GED? What exactly are the SATS for?? THANKS! I keep wondering about it!
Yes, you can register for the SATs whenever. Most students take it at least a semester or two before they graduate. The SAT and ACT tests are generalized tests that most colleges want you to take (some prefer one, others prefer the other, but most will accept either, so you don't need to take both). It basically just tests you to make sure you have the basic skills needed to succeed in college, like basic math & reading comprehension. Of course, there is plenty of debate over whether a standardized test can really test for that, but schools still want those scores. SAT has 2 sections, math & verbal, each worth 800 points (for a combined 1600 possible). Take a practice test if you can (just so you know what to expect & what you may want to review), but don't stress about it, it's only one of many things schools look at when considering you.
SO, I can just take the SATS...eeven though i DONT go 2 school? and then when i get my GED..i can go 2 college?
