    Warning: pointless ramble ahead...

Have you ever been working on something for so long that you're absolutely bored & disgusted with it? But still, you remember how once--a long, long, long time ago--it used to fill you with inspiration. So you refuse to throw it away. You realize that someone seeing it for the 1st time will probably see the beauty, but unfortunately that'll never again be you.

And so it becomes a chore. You lose touch with the original feeling that was driving the work. It's now just a dead-end 8-to-5 job, and your apathy shows through in every touch you add. Ayep, you suffer from T.L.I.

You wonder: maybe a mild lobotomy (where they remove the last 6 months of your lifeless, jaded existence) will cure you. Damn, the waiting list on lobotomies is like a mile long. Politicians have priority. So you stumble back home, fill the bathtub with ice-cold vodka and dive in head first. Glug-glug-damn, you accidentally swallowed your loofah. Has this ever happened to you? What the heck do you do??

Yeah, happened. What do I do? Usually throw it out. I don't like boring things. What should you do? I don't know.

I could never throw any of my stuff away... even the really dreadful stuff. But there's a grimy old trunk in the basement I call "The Hell of Good Intentions & Unfinished Works" :X where most of my junk ends up sooner or later...

Yeah,it happens to me alot. Whether it's painting,drawing,writing,sewing..anything that I love basically. That's the worst feeling...when something you love becomes a chore...something dreaded. When that happens, you have to chuck it for the time being. Put it away and then come back to it another time. Maybe the break will help revive your inspiration for it.

I get into terriable fights with my paintings sometimes. Nasty words are said, feelings are hurt, and we ususally end up not talking for several weeks. When this happens, I give it a "time out".... flip it so it faces the wall, and I start something new. After a couple weeks of not seeing eachother, I find that I can look at it with fresh eyes and see what the problem is.

    Good luck with the T.L.I.!

lol you remind me of "the glass man" in Amélie. All the faces in his paintings change their expressions when he's not looking.
