So what are all you doing for earth day? (or did) I'm doing nothing that day, but the day after "The people for peace group" that im in is having a celebration. Its not a HUGE thing being i live in a small town, usually only about 30-40 people. but we buy seeds/plants ect and exchange them and do stuff.
theres a place called balboa park in San Diego and they are having cultural earth day and its about uniting all people and making the world a better place theres gunna be bands playing amazing music all day long and its just a big gathering of people who respect the place we live
here at the university of vermont we had earth week all week! it was cool, lots of events and speakers and stuff, one of the environmental groups I'm in painted a mural on campus. tomorrow (or today), earth day, there is a big Earth Day fair on one of the greens with live music and a speakout and lots of student groups and other organizations will have tables set up. I'm going to be working the fair with a bunch of different groups... Students for Peace and Global Justice, Students for a Free Tibet, and the Consortium for Ecological Living. I'm excited, yay Earth Day!! Sam
Rain is natural. Maybe a symbolic gesture. Wash clean. I'm not raggin on ya though, just a thought. There are no marches or events where I live but I'll be out hangin with the trees. They're my buddies. Just listen. Really listen.
i really wanna go out to the lake or my brothers memorial and plant trees and flowers... plant a new garden...i dont thin its gonna rain here today...
I gess Im going to reflect with nature even though its a bit wet outside. So Ill look out a window and reflect inside.
I was going to go out and start my organic compost heap today, but it was 2 degrees and raining outside! brr!!
I've been quite sick lately, however I made some p/b and bird seed balls which are now hardening, and hopefully ready to be hung up for tommorow... I baked a Vegan Chocolate Cake. Started planting some flowers in a reused styrofoam cup. Was going to go planting tommorow, but our bus system stinks, and I will not have time to get bus, plant, get home change, go to work. Boo to that. May first=Handfasting and treeplanting. Whee! One last thing. I am a warrior: P/B and Birdseed war stripes. *Also started spring cleaning, finding homes for things I no longer use/need.. Very productive day
LOL nice pic... it is nice to see other young vegans doing good concious things, and knowing im not alone in my endeavors. i also started sping cleaning yesterday and filling up bags for the salvation army and getting stuff together to sell at my moms work.
I just can't seem to get into the Earth Day spirit this year. Between Easter, the death of Pope Torquemada and the subsequent election of Pope Hitler, the fundies have completely dominated the whole vernal equinox, turning into a great big psuedo-religious farce. I'm so burned out on religion . On the other hand, what's to celebrate, anyway? Our ecosystem is on the verge of collapse, thanks to Bush. His Big Oil Buddies are drilling in the once pristine Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge. The rotting corpses of dead CIA agents are polluting the once pristine waters of the Tigris River. The ice caps are melting, Mt. St. Helens is erupting, and human fingers are springing out of our once pristine chili. The whole wyrld is going to hell in a non-biodegradable handbasket and that CHIMP doesn't even give a damn. One would think that SElected peeResident in thiEF could find a little time in his busy schedule to come down off the mountain and celebrate an international celebration of peace and love with the little Whos of Whoville. But then again, he probably couldn't get Pat Robertson's permission. One thing's for certain: a President John Kerry would never have been so consumed by superstitious religious beliefs that he'd be afraid to wear flowers in his hair and dance naked amongst the sacred ferns with the Elders of the Olde Way. Then again, John Kerry doesn't get his kicks pouring barrels of arsenic into our water supply.
Thank you. I was (unfortunately) by myself, but extremely silly mood, and figured I would take some pictures. Part of my spring cleaning was getting clothes ready to donate (though I got rid of 2 bags a month ago, so only have 1 small bag at the moment) giving stuff away (my tinkerbell organizer, the reciever had the biggest grin, and was so damned happy, it made my day) I work in a fabric store so going to get some of my left over scraps and make goodie bags for my co-workers (and clean out my bin at the same time) I am also glad to see there are other young vegans (though vegans of any age...) taking action for what they believe in, in their daily lives, and by passing the message. Tonight I am thinking of making some shopping bags (boo to the plastic!)
right on, i throw away sooooooo much plastic from food packages and grocery bags, i am stuffing it all into a big box right now to take a picture of it for an art piece or something with a timeline of much unrecycable/biodegradable i alone went through in a certain period of time. i already have a very big amount, just imagine what we all go through together, bet it is not a pretty sight. i just started asked my mom to let me take the trash out from now on though so she doesnt take it out so often since she cant carry it well were only two people anyway so we really shouldnt produce more than one full bag of waste considering we compost and recycle everything we can. used to be terrible about it, but weve improved a lot thats cool, i have a ton of different kinds of fabric too i havent used that ive found and just hate to see thrown away, bet a lot of it would be good for sewing and stuff, ive been trying to think of what to do with it but havent been able to come up with anything, a fabric store sounds like a nice place though, i can take pictures of it if you want? that is also what i am doing withall of my old clothes and stuff i find, baggin it up for the salvation army, its tax deductible too so my mom appreciates it and yeah veganism is the shit
I jumped on my John Denver wagon and Protested the drilling in the Alaskan Wildlife refuge. Althou we LOST, I spoke up against it.
I am glad there were people there who care enough to speak for what they believe in. Unfortunate about the loss though. There truely needs to be more support for the earth, however seems that profits are the concern of the majority. Fractual: Our area has recently started a composting program, they collect once every two weeks. They had sent all houses information and gave away the buckets for free, to help get people participating. It seems in my area most are taking advantage of this. I would love to see some pictures of the fabric. Perhaps even a fabric swap? For the scraps swaps are awsome. Many things to make (many sewing communities give ideas) patchwork skirts are amazing. Also draw string bags for carrying things (I love 'em for personal hygene products) are easy, and use little fabric) and can be quite funky.
