    This is so fucking stupid!

How can you kill people over drugs???

And Pot!!!! It's a fucking plant!!!!!!!!!

Whatever happened to that guy who was accused of the bombing over there? Did he get the death penalty? Not that I'm saying it's right or anything, i hate the death penalty...but if your going to kill ten people over smuggling drugs but not if you killed hundreds of people....than you've seriously got your priorities fucked up...

The stupid thing is....when heroin and pot become legal (and they will!) all these people would have died or been accused anyway...for absolutely nothing.....

Ha, I think its amusing, one of the guys that got caught in the big bust goes

"What happened to Shippelle Corby, happened to me"

hahaha, he had them strapped to his fucking body...

there is no way he could have known they were there.

that is one of the points I have not seen anyone raise and I think is so crucial!! The pot that she had is worth far more here than in Indonesia, and if she needed some for personal use you would think since she had friends and family there she would have purchased it there...cause it would be cheaper too!!
She is definitely innocent I think...
    :(
these people seem to have been stupid enough and certainly don't appear innocent...however I disagree with the Australian gov not just arresting them when they got back here, no one deserves to die for this...and yeh I know all the arguments but I still don't agree that the death penalty is appropiate...

Well if the Indonesian police need the donation of 9 bullets for the heroin smugglers l'd foot the bill... I certainly don't feel it is right that tax payers money will be wasted on these fools now, and it will be...

They had it coming. No point in feeling sad about them, you have to be a grade A fool to try anything as dumb as what they did.

    they definatly should not die.
but people do go to other countries knowing the laws and they risk them, it is their own fault. even if its sad they still made the choice to do it

The Corby case, in my opinion, is a farce.... as has been pointed out here the gear is worth a lot more at home than in Indonesia, weed is not exactly hard to come by in Indonesia nor is it expensive and who the fuck takes 4.1 kg of hydro on hols with them ?? I mean i smoke a lot but thats 146.42 ounces!!

As for the people caught with the heroin, it's sad to think that in this day and age so many young Australians could try something so monumentally stupid, in fact it is rather hard to believe. There are countries in south east asia with (slightly) more relaxed drug laws which are much closer to Burma, where the heroin was allegedly purchased, why choose one of the ones with the harshest laws to try this ? If the heroin was purchased in Burma then in order to get it to Bali it would need to move through, Thailand, Malaysia, and finally the most of the way through Indonesia, thats 3 border crossings into countries with extreme penelties, then finally into Australia, a country with some of the tightest border controls in the world. All this with 8.65 kg of heroin (a package roughly the size of half a case of beer) ??. Now the news reports are saying that the "mules" were threatened by the 21 yr old "kingpin"
Andrew Chan with death. I don't believe for a second that Andrew Chan is the head of the operation, more like a lower eschalon stooge sent to keep an eye on the operation and reporting to people who are nice and safe back here in Oz. The fact that the feds had been watching this group for the last 3 months should indicate to the authorities who was recruited in Bali and who went with the express intention of smuggling heroin.
I personally don't agree that heroin will ever become legal, decriminalized or available under a registered user scheme...maybe. If these people did do this without coercion then fuck em they deserve to die as i believe that 8.65kg of heroin on the streets of this county would kill a lot more than 10 people.

I hadn't really thought of this possibility before and I just ripped this quote off another forum to illustrate the idea and I suppose it is actually possible that they were being used as distractors for other shipments at the time...

    hey guys,
what do you think about those 9 arrests in bali for smuggling heroin.
heres my opinion. i think that the drug lord or whoever set it all up expected that those 9 would get caught and only gave them a small amount as a decoy, as he had another much larger shipment come through under the bali police noses. anyway, it doesnt really make sense to me. obviously there has to be more to it..opinions plz

who knows but it all sounds a bit like this could have been stopped before it went ahead...and to sit watch someone hang themselves is ok?

to me the idea of having to prove yourself innocent rather than the defence having to prove you guilty is just so much more....difficult...confusing...I am sorry, still looking for the words but I definitely don't agree with the premise of guilty before proved innocent...

yeah it is rather stupid to think ones life is worth $10 000!

One of the ladies caught smuggling heroin Renae someone lived about 20 minutes from where i live, yeah it is sad however i dont believe they should be killed for their act.
Perhaps a long time in prison, but no one deserves death.

okies so who believes Schapelle Corby is guilty? sorry, don't think I can set up a poll but I figure that is pretty much how she is being tried so lets see if an aussie poll matches to an Indonesian judge poll...

I don't think she is, but... if she is guilty, dont you think she should go to jail for being so freakin stupid and illogical?

Who would bother to take pot to Indonesia to sell...you would buy it here at a higher price than you get it there and then you would lose money...she has been to Bali numerous time and has family living there on a semi permanent basis, I figure if she wanted to make a profit from drugs and had the desire and knowledge to do so and had access to that amount then she would have known that she would not do so there and would have made more on what she was busted for in Aus....therefore her "story" about it being planted is totally legit cause who would bother to smuggle drugs to Indoneasia...
