britney, "Xtina" hilary duff, uhm, that girl from the parent trap, any other MANUFACTURED bubble gum bitch. Why? Because A) They're shizz was written by professionals, and performed/recorded/tweaked by professionals, and therefore only 'top quality' people in the biz would be making music FOR them. B) There are millions if not billions of girl 'singers' who would do anything for a chance at fame, and they (<---they being corporape-tions) could easily replace then teen idol girls, SO the ones who 'made it' need to really REALLY carry a tune. (Or look super sexy like little prosti-tots.) So logically the manufactured would be good. And yet..... Music is in the heart really, and i think its cool that those vending machine rock star wannabes dont have the same cult following that other rockers do... i mean, they do... but its superficial.. Any thoughts?
you can't fake the thing that makes good music. the plastic girls can't compete in the authenticity department.
Dunno i would include also in your not real artist list the following: Simple plan, Good Charlotte, New Found Glory , Avril Lavigne and all these simili-punk bands
Logically, that makes perfect sense. Maybe the corporations need to look elsewhere for "professional" songwriters. "Professional songwriter"... what an oxymoron. Anybody can write songs.... I guess crap comes out when you have to write a lot in a short amount of time.
The way I look at it is... Its not music... Music is made by a musician... Musicians play instruments, write songs, and have a spot in their heart for what they do.... Today we have performers and singers... Not musicians or music
didn't Quincy Jones write most of Micheal Jackson's biggest hits?what would Elton John be without Bernie Taupin? did Elvis ever write his own songs? Joe Cocker? there are performers and there are writers and some people can do both.... it doesn't automaticly mean that someone who can't write a decent tune makes crappy music. (though the examples you posted suck indeed) I very much dislike Robbie Williams's (manufactured) music but if you've ever seen him live you will admit that he's a great performer who can win over any audience.
Does anyone remember/know of soul coughing? Their music is the catchiest, most repetitive poppy bubblegume pretween music ever. I believe they made their own stuff and i kind of like it. It is my firm belief that if you make a song, only YOU are the one to play it from the soul. If they got some plastic girl with a voice, it would have been so much worse, cuz she dosent FEEL the song like the original artists.
My thoughts are that the "music" you're speaking of is all created for the purpose of making money, making hits, making celebrities. It's not the same as music that exists because of someone's need to create or to express or to protest or even to merely entertain.
The last time I looked, Robert Hunter, Doyle Bramhall, Simon Climie, John Hiatt, and Lyle Lovett weren't writing for Britney Spears... so they obviously don't have the best songwriters.
It's really rather simple, they're not looking to make good music, they're looking to sell a product... Quality is irrelevant, only sellability(I'm too lazy to think of a proper word) matters.
Commercialism is where it's at... they're not looking for anything that goes past the eye... to them it's just something to listen to shallowly and look at. It goes no further than that.
No matter how much the plastic girls suck the people at the computer can make them sound cool and yet....really cheezy
Yes, I too agree with that statement... there's a line between people in musical entertainment solely for the money and people who truly know what they're doing entertaining people through a passion that they love.
Here here... ... In my opinion, a musician is someone who can actually sing and play atleast one instrument. Not someone who can have sex on stage without even taking his/her clothes off.
its called pop because its popular, for everyone one of us here, theres ten people out there who love the music we speak of. who said humans were only entertained by beautiful things?
yeah agree that most music if not all is just basically written just for money, i mean how many cover songs are we getting nowadays...loads, im not saying cover songs are bad, but when the manufactured pop bands are singing them u kinda know the record companies know their gonna sell it
Well you all aren't taking into concideration that the Doors, Jefferson Airplane, and Led Zeppelin were all hired buy labels to sell records, not make art.
