Well it's that time of year again where we gather all our camping gear and head off to the festies. 1st Bonnaroo. Best advice there is to take a very high flag pole and a large flag and stake it next to your tent. I got soooo lost. It seemed all the tent looked alike! 2nd Schwagstock 25 at Camp Zoe. My favorite festie of all! No cops, no restrictions, no violence, just one happy family. Jimmy of The Schwag (only the best Greatful Dead tribune band ever!) owns the 330 acre campitheater in beautiful southern missouri, gorgeous Ozark country. They have their own security so it's total freedom. 3rd is Wakarusa in Lawrence Kansas. STRING CHEESE!!!!!!!!! When your camping next to thousands of people. It become abit challenging, but so much fun. See ya at the festies!!!!
i love the camping thing at fests. Also have lots of bottled water. I always get people straying through who are thirsty. I try and help them out but I don't want to give out everything. So take extras
I take extra everything too. I love to share with my neighbors and party with them all night. one time, we were at this small festival and our camping neighbors were so awesome! The dude had beautiful dreads and his girl was a riot. We found out they lived, like, 2 blocks away from us! we never knew because we kinda hide in our apartment from the freaks in the neightborhood and so did they. they must hide well because we never saw them again
Yeah its a nice feeling to be able to help out your brothers and sisters. I always bring extra water and tons of PB&J's cuz some of those kids hadn't eaten (well food anyways) for days. But you have to be careful, I had like 20 people around me begging for water and my kind heart could't resist and I ended up short at the end of the week-end.
we hang glow sticks all over everything at night so we can find our way home!! also i cut out shiney stars and hang em all over the tarp =)
I bring my Kelty Zen hiking tent and stake out the vestibule with my Leki poles. Everyone else has those huge ol' Coleman or Ozark Trail tents. Figure out routes from tent to stage areas and back before BEFORE indulging in party favors and preferably before dark. I always bring a my Tikka headlamp that I use when hiking. Its a great hands free way to find your way around and to and from camp and helps you to see what you are doing. Also when at Schwagstock don't camp in the little holler next to the riding stables. When I camped there during the August Schwagstock I failed to realize that I was camped down the hill from the second stage. I think I got 2- 3 hours of sleep the whole time.UGH!!!
Boo, SS21 was a trip. We camped at the end of the 330 acres. I got lost the whole week-end! I love the headlamp! I use it all the time for everything!
My camping spot at the Sept. Schwagstock was the best. I got there around 9:-9:30 pm. They were sending us in what I think was the Campitheater entrance. Its the first entrance going south on 19. You follow the path and then cross the bridge and come out near the Riding Stables. That by far was the best camping area. Shaded, nice thick grass, relatively short walk to the stage plus it was quite. You could just barely hear the stages off in the distance. Plus I was only 20 yards from the Porta-Jon. I sure am looking forward to the may "Stock.
