what do you ladies think of corsets? i imagine they would be very uncomfortable but i want to get one because i like the way the look. do any of you own a corset? how uncomfortable are they?
I love the way the look and feel. I would suggest getting one that actually laces up though (not "bra" hooks). They seem to conform to your body and keep their shape better.
I always thought they would be uncomfortable. Of course, I hate wearin a bra even... I do like how they look though, I think they can look very sexy.
I have one... cheap and certainly not the best around (the boning digs into my armpits) but I REALLY like the way it looks on me. I can't wear it for long periods of time but I'm trying to save up some money to get one custom-made (a gal in town does it or about $200, custom fitted, colours and materials I want, woohoo!). I would never wear one every day, it would be more of a special occasion thing and I'd probably wear it like a top. I think they look beautiful but are an awful lot of work to deal with. The one I have laces in the back and has hooks in the front, it actually fits very well with that combination. Except for teh boning in the armpits.
I used to have a few... I liked the ones that lace up better.. but the only problem I had with that one is it is hard to lace it up yourself.... I had no problem with the cbra clips.. I could do those myself.. But the lace look and feel better...
I have a few of them myself. I love them! I don't think they're uncomfortable, I mean, if you're feeling bloated or having indigestion, um yes, they can be a tad irritating, but otherwise, they're awesome. I think you'll like them!
I want one! But I can't find a good one and the really good ones are usually too damn expensive...blah. ^^^kjhippielove...are you a fan of Back to the Future? hehe
I have one that hooks at the back, and I can't do it without putting it on back to front, fastening it up and twisting it all the way round! It's gorgeous, very sexy. For special occasions only though, because it can get a little uncomfortable!
I think they're so sexy! I own one, but it's not for daily wear or anything. Sort of a special occasion thing.. ahem.
i wore one for homecoming 2 years in a row... it was okay.. it made me look thinner.. and it made my dress not have like bralines and stuff.. so that was nice.. it also concealed my lovehandles! lol i wouldnt ever wear one daily though.. rawr! a tinge uncomfortable! for special occasions though, one wouldnt be bad...
I love corsets. Everytime I find one I look at the price and most of the time, I buy it. They really aren't that uncomfortable and are starting to look nice as shirts by themselves... but I don't mind wearing lingure as shirts.
They're actually really comfortable...if you're feeling right and everything. The way they hug you and conform to every little corner and curve...I don't know. I like 'em.
I mean, wear what you like. But personally. I don't even wear tight jeans anymore. Damn, when I was a teen ager and before I had my first baby, I used to squeeze into these teeny tiny tight blue jeans. Can't do that anymore, more out of discomfort than anything else.
did you know that the tiniest waist due to tight lacing corset use is currently 15 inches. that's the width of a coffee can. in victorian and edwardian times, when ladies were expected to wear corsets, fainting was very common due too tight lacing. women were considered very fragile and weak due to their tendency to faint and the way they seemed to get winded from the smallest physical exertion. women had difficulty taking a full deep breathe (keeping in mind that these are all examples of tight lacing, common in those days) due too the compression of lungs and internal organs. in edwardian days, women often took their afternoon tea exclusively amongst other ladies. these afternoons were spent working on fine needle crafts and it was also a time in the day when ladies could loosen their corset strings. corset history is fascinating, i've read a few very interesting articles online. i know that probably no one here is talking about tight lacing (or maybe ya are, lol, to each, her own, right?) but the connection of modern feminism and the shedding of confining foundation garments is also fascinating. the corset to some is a symbol of a more subserviant time for women. it is similiar but probably more significant than the symbol of bra burning in the 60's (which actually didn't happen due to the people organizing that demonstration not being able to get proper permits, the bra burning story spread like crazy though from that one event) just some interesting tidbits, kathy
Haven't you seen Pirates of the Caribbean, the chick wore one and she passed out and fell into the ocean...*laughs* Course then you would get rescued by Jack Sparrow...on second thought...get one *winks*. Actually I think they look kinda nice, but I wouldn't want to go too extreme, I've seen pics in the Body Modification forum and those just look...kinda gross...to me, anyway. Anyway...go for it mama!
