When you say Cirque du Soleil, are you referring to siter soleil and french affair? Anyway, I too am learning French and I was wondering if anybody who speak english can help me with my French from time to time. I myself am part French and now want to learn the worlds most beautiful language, French! I must learn as fast as possible so any help would be greatly appreciated. My MSN name is Peviteaux (Peviteaux@hotmail.com) and my AIM name is Peviteaux. Thanks, -Mike
What I did before a trip to Tahiti was buy a French dictionary and started teaching myself. Of course, it's a long, long, confusing process. And, of course, mon Francais es cassez, but it's a start. Another teaching aid is when you're watching anything on DVD, select French language with English subtitles, or vice-versa. It'll give you some idea for the phonetic sounds of it and you'll be able to match up corresponding words and phrases. In other words, expose yourself to as much French as you can, regardless of the source, even if you don't understand it. Subconsciously, you'll have a more familiar feel with it.
I agree with Dr. Lecter, Autumn Jewels. I have been teaching myself french since april 2004 from a beginners french package that came with a book and 2 dialogue cd's. It helps a lot phonetically to hear the words and sentences being pronounced. And believe it or not as Dr.Lecter said hire dvd's that have subtitles and dialogues that can be changed back and forth to french and english. I have been doing that for ages. Listening to dvd's in french with subtitles then referring to my book on 'beginners french' plus also referring to a dictionary I have that translates words from french to english and english to french. You start learning heaps. Although it is a slow process. Hope this helps. Warlock
