I'm tired of seeing us talking about doing things but not acting. This is no easy choice, but I'm ready to give up technology, running water, electricity and all of the 'modern life' luxeries that we live with on a daily basis. I think it's time that us humans, entities, take hold of our lives and find our roots. We need to get back in touch with our spirituality, our essence. The REAL reason why we are all here is getting fuzzy and people are beginning to forget. As always though, nature is kept in a perfect balance and thus, many of us are 'awakening' and realizing that WE hold the key. WE are the ones that must rise up, take a stand, and begin the movement. It has been said many times before, but now we can begin our planning. We must find a way to live in peace with nature and our surroundings. We cannot continue to be a plague on the land, devouring everything until nothing is left but waste. We must learn to CARE! We need leaders to stand up, speak up and start something! We need people who are willing to take a leap, to be brave and move forward against all odds. I will begin by looking for a meeting place in my area to discuss. We need to get together, off of the internet and put our minds together in person where our energy can flow. We need to get to know each other and begin the bond. I want to find others like myself, who feel the urge, greater than ever now, to get this rolling. Let NO ONE tell you that it cannot be done! We are no different than ANY humans in history, we fight, we love, we care, and we can make a change! We're going to need those knowledgeable in healthcare(first aid, etc), hunting/fishing, gardening and basic survival. It would probably be a good time to learn these things for yourself anyway, just in case. I also suggest learning how to use both hands(ie: right handed people learn to use their left hand more, and vice versa). We should also begin weaning ourselves from the things that aren't important in our lives. We should begin eating healthier and in very small portions. Only take in enough to get by, do not gorge on a frequent basis. Carbonated drinks and the like should be slowly weaned as well. Drink more natural drinks such as water, milk and tea. Be kind to others and show them the same affection/care(or slightly more) that you would want them to give to you. If you see someone & make eye contact, smile at them. When you have time, blindfold yourself for 30 minutes and take note of what happens. If you're comfortable enough, go into a meditation during the blindfold and ask your spiritual guides to show themselves to you. I suggest going to http://www.eclecticenergies.com/chakras/chakratest.php to take the Chakra test, be as honest as possible. See how balanced/unbalanced you are, and then work on balancing your chakras. There is a lot of great information on that website on how to do this. I believe the toughest part will be finding land to live on. Almost everything has been carved up and divided, owned by someone. But we have plenty of time to arrange things and find a place. It will need to have a water source nearby such as a lake, stream or river. I believe it will take 5-7 years to organize this as this won't be easy at all. So the first thing is, who is with me? I want to know exactly how many, just in this forum, are ready to begin.
Hi Kevin Smith. I posted this in another thread recently. Email me, we'll talk. Perhaps, just perhaps, we can start the revolution everyone talks about. "...Anyhow, In a month or so I will be permanently leaving my home in Ottawa, Canada to travel about North America, sleeping in a tent, hitchhiking, and surviving by my own wit and skill... I've been planning this out for months, it is basically what I would have as an ideal lifestyle in our world, a back-to-nature vagabond / anarchist sort of thing, except without all of the scary destructive anarchist tripe. I have a dream (wait, I'm sure someone else said that already) of a world where people get along because of love and the "common good" rather than laws and all that sort of thing. My plan is to travel across Canada to see my Grandparents in BC and then attend a hitchhiker happening in the Yukon in the middle of this summer, and then once I turn 18 in September, I'll be heading into the states to spend the colder seasons. Anyhow, the point of this post is, if any of you actually want to start living a somewhat more humaine and natural lifestyle (albeit a nomadic one, at least for the forseeable future) rather than just talking about some sort of a revolution from the comfort of your living rooms (And I don't mean that in a condescending way, what you're all saying is great, but honestly, it won't do a thing). My email address is lemongait@hotmail.com ... contact me PLEASE if you have ANY slight interest in joining me, or even just knowing more. I can't wait to get to know all of you!"
AH, that sounds so AWESOME! Too bad that I am only a freshman in highschool...I plan on moving to Scotland and living a lifestyle similar to that. Cheers, Dylan
Root: open (19%) Sacral: under-active (-13%) Navel: under-active (-6%) Heart: under-active (-50%) Throat: open (13%) Third Eye: over-active (75%) Crown: over-active (69%) I just want to live on some ley line intersection
No we dont need to give up ALL modern coforts to rebel.Dont go to the other extrem if you know what I mean.We need to change socity though culture and peace and music and good addituds.I hope you in can survive in the outback good luck
The thing is, you CAN'T rebel that way. Whether you're spending money on stock in Walmart (to use an extreme example), or spending money on subcultural music, YOU'RE STILL PUMPING MONEY INTO THE SYSTEM! If you're living in a house, you're pumping money into the system. If you buy your food and shelter, you're pumping money into the system. The point is, they don't care what you're doing, as long as they make a profit. That's why I have to do this, as does everyone else.
I think your right Lemongait. I am young but the American way of life is too big and too deeply rooted in America to change it. The only way is to simplify our lives and get in touch with ourselves. It won't be easy and I don't know exactly how we would get land to live but you have to start someplace you know. I am for it but I don't know how much I can do until I graduate from high school in a couple of years. Spread the message is all I can say.
Anyone who says that America is too deeply ingrained and can not be changed has OBVIOUSLY been ignoring history. The Women's movement changed the way people percieved women. The civil rights movement (for the most part) changed the way people viewed african americans. The gay/les movement (again for the most part) changed the way people viewed the glbt community but every year its less and less harder to be out. So, knock it off with the "you can't do this you can't change that" shit. Its such a downer, man. If we thought like that women would still be in the fuckin kitchen, blacks would still come through the back door and gay/les folks would be in jail along side murderers and rapists. Pay attention, man. look around you..there ARE alternatives to the "System". Have you bothered to look or are you gonna live the downer lifestyle of "oh well I can't change it"? *disgusted snort* Thank the Mother Goddess Gandhi, Che Quevra, Dr. Martin L. King didn't think that way.
Ooh, I have the perfect idea. If anyone's rich enough to do it, since it's my idea I at least get to live there and make some of the decisions! I've heard about a book that tells you how to start your own country, and you can buy towns on ebay. Sure they are abandoned towns but wow - your own town! And build it up witht he right people and declare your own country. Then you get to leagalize everything! I so know what I'm doing if I ever win the lottery! I've always wanted my own country! Feel free to grow your own weed in your back yard as freely as you may grow tomatoes or green beans. In my country anything that grows is legal! Woohooo! If you people take me seriously - trust me - I can be the brains behind such an operation.
Wintersashes, if you could get a hold of that book, I'd like to hear about it. It sounds really cool! So - it seems like people really do want to make a difference, but are unsure of their abilities that would enable said action. The reason for this is because society has brainwashed us into thinking we're powerless. Urbangal, you're absolutely right; if we can learn anything from history, it's that WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! ah...tea, It's good that you know the importance of being educated. Personally, I don't think school is the way to go (it really didn't work for me, I'm basically self-educated), but I'm not going to preach, because isn't preaching essentially what we're fighting against? Peace, all of you.
I KNOW we can do it! The thing is getting the money for the town. I think the last time I head about a town sold on ebay it was a little over $1 million. I've heard of a few towns being sold actually. I think the book's title is something as plain as "start your own country" though I think I have searched for it before and haven't been able to turn up any copy for sale. I should look into it again. I want to do it! I want my own country! Here's my proposition for a flag, not so creative but I like it:
Wow, seems to me last time I looked for that book no one had it, not even used. Now I see it everywhere and even though I'm SO in the hole right now, went ahead and ordered it since I *do* have Amazon credit at my disposal. It's my own fault the $20/month will never end becuase I like to read and get 1-2 books per month. Anyway... ok... This is how it's going to be... There's NO room for intolerance. This is paramount. There's no room for discrimination, elitism or attitude in our community/country. Physical appearance, color, sexuality or excluding/rejecting someone for any other superficial reason is simply not acceptable. No matter HOW ugly you think someone is, no one's got the right to reject someone from the community for such a shallow, soulless reason. Are you with me? Hopefully the book will have plenty of those ideas on how to raise funds.... Wouldn't it be great to actually have a country?? A country without a government..but more of a community, a partnership, and understanding that everyone will have at least a few duties to keep up. I think the last town sold on ebay came with buildings and all. Yeah, now I remember the whole story. It was a town built for a company and the buildings for the employees to live in and shops for them and everything, and for some reason the company didn't go through with it or went under before people moved in or something. So someone got off with a whole town - new houses and buildings and all. Imagine if we could've had that!
Not big enough for a country...but would make a lovely little commune. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1607&item=4374827451&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1607&item=4354579146&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1607&item=4375144716&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1607&item=4375139788&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1607&item=4375008197&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1607&item=4374978533&rd=1
I really like the idea, and am in favour of it being carried out, but how on Earth would we be able to afford any of the plots? I know some of them are just a couple thousand, but I personally, thanks to my fantabulous lifestyle, am completely broke.
Yeah same here. I can't afford anything. Well that book, I think, is supposed to say something about raising money for your own country. If anyone had a couple thousand bucks laying around...I know how to turn it into $50,000 or more. I just don't have the money for myself to invest in real estate or else I would've made myself rich long ago. But knowledge of how to make money doesn't do shit for a homeless person...
Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I don't think buying a small town/city will be sufficcient, we need to live on the land and create our own dwellings from our surroundings. We need to know how to build shelters that can be quickly produced, and easily taken down for relocating. We need to be mobile, constantly moving from year to year or month to month depending on how the season is. We need to live in a spot for a while, then move on so that the land can recycle itself. One of my main points in doing this is just so that we stay nomadic. Remember, the most important thing when looking for an area to occupy, is water. Buying a very large amount of land, something about the size of half of Kentucky or equal to the size of Florida could work but I see that as a last resort. I think it would be best to find land that is not 'owned', if it were bought in America, there is a high chance that it will be taken by the American government no more than 50-100 years down the road for "urban development". If we were to fight back against them, they will fight us and possibly kill us, very similar to how the Native Americans were driven from their land. We need to either find land in other countries, or we speak with the American government, in numbers, and show them what we want. If we're going to create something in the US, we must come to an agreement with the US, and hope they hold their word. In any case, we must all use this time that we have in the next few years to build our bodies, fill our minds with useful survival knowledge, pay off our debts and learn to be more peaceful and at one with nature and everything around us. When we all move as one, it will be glorious. Now, I wonder what kind of numbers we're talking here, in people. Hundreds? Thousands? Tens of thousands? That will be a very important factor as well when choosing areas. We need to bring supplies for eating like forks, spoons, knives, plates, bowls and cups. They should be very durable and easy to clean. Each person should be able to carry their own pack, so try to be able to carry at least 25 lbs on your back, more is even better. I urge children that can carry their own packs, to do so as much as they can. It will give them a sense of discipline and shows them the meaning of work and equality. It will make them feel like they're doing their part, and they will be. When moving I think it would be nice to build crafts that we could load larger supplies into(poles for houses/fenses, etc). It could be made with poles coming out of the sides for people to help move it along, with everyone pushing it will move easily and will help get heavier supplies around without putting it on one person, or using animals for heavy labor. Let's keep these ideas rolling and don't be afraid to voice your opinion, no idea is a bad one. Even the ones that aren't used can be tweaked and worked into the ones that are, to make a plan that works for everyone. ^_^
i disagree that there is no room for 'elitism'. elitism is simply the result of a status-structured community. you cannot have a human society with no status. status is merely part of human nature. i also believe that it is aperson's right to discriminate, but only passively. it should instead be tought the silliness of discrimination, w\hich can only happen when there is no seperation between races and such. the only problem is that races -arent- equal. genders arent equal. sexual preference can change a situation largely as well. it should be a right for a person to discriminate however it should simply be driven in that its a bad thing. if you punish someone for trying to have an oppinion, it ends up fueling discrimination in certain ways. this just means however things like being allowed to turn down someones employment application for any reason, as well as firing someone (with due leave) if any element of their person is diliked by the employer. what is unnacceptable is actively isolating, publically, or blacklisting, people for some discriminatory purpose. teasing someone on account of their race (unless your friends and its a mutually humoured joke) or preference, etc. perhaps, the public expression of anything discriminatory should be made intolerable, but i believe a person'a humble oppinion is their right. at the same time, so should freedom of speech, but not when the speech harms others, which is what public airing of discriminatory ideals or action would be i think the ideal system imo is a little complex, really
No, discrimination is not right. It's not right to not hire someone because you're an asshole and don't like how they LOOK. That's why I have no fucking future in this world, because everyone is an asshole and absolutely no one will ever stand up against discrimination!
I urge everyone who wants to push this movement along, to put a link to this thread in your signature. Whenever you see someone wanting to move onto something better, create a spiritual colony based on peace with everything around us, refer them here so they can see what we're doing. Many people are feeling the change now, they know that something is coming and they want to join, they want to be a part of something greater. Somewhere where the "mighty dollar" does not rule them, where caring is a keystone to society. So again, let's spread this word FAR and WIDE.
Is this a joke or do you really think that even if you get the people you want everyone is going to be happy? Once new standards are brought up then it won't be that long until people start becoming greedy, sexist, racist, etc. Also it's true, there are some things women are not capable ot doing as well as a man. Even if it seems sexist, shouldn't you choose the person with the better knowledge of what is going on and is more capable of doing the task?
