    I am your hero!

I had to do it for 2 years. Sometimes there were customers that drove me nuts. Some people would flip out on them and quit. Others flipped out and get fired.

I remember having to bite my tounge so many fucking times, it probably bled.

So this guy is behind me in Mickey D's. I'm standing in line and I have waited a good 6-8 minutes for my food. This other guy hadn't been waiting as long as me. I'm watching the people running around stressed out. Someone's not there, I can hear them complain. I thought about how much that sucked, because I knew what it felt like and I waited patiently, feeling bad for them. This guy behind me starts swearing at the girl at the register.

I turned to him and I said " who do you think you are? Where do you get off swearing at this young lady, in front of other people's children nonetheless, and think it's ok? Do you have a job? Does it get tough? Do you think that because these people are young that they don't deserve respect?"

He starts yelling and swearing at me.

I say" acting like this is 1) not going to get you your food any faster no matter what you say and 2) it's food. You are this upset over having to wait a few extra minutes for cheap food. Is it really that important? Is this such a big deal that you have to flip out?"

Note that I'm smiling and laughing at this guy the whole time I'm lecturing him in front of the whole place, which sent him over the edge. He threatened me and I laughed more. The manager found his order, gave him his money back and told him to leave before she called the cops. I got my order and when I left, I actually got a round of applause!

It was THE BEST thing that has ever happened to me at a fast food place.

So to all of you who put up with that crap, have ever, or will in the future, you're welcome!! ;)

"Who was that masked man?" :D You are the Lone Ranger of fast food employees.

I served coffee for many years and there were nice customers and ones who yelled at you for no apparent reason other that they were assholes.

coffee is bad. I've seen a girl get a whole cup of HOT coffee thrown by a disgruntled customer.

I don't get why people feel the need to treat others like crap, over something as trivial as food.

I worked at a Dairy Bar in my hometown and some people got so upset over a darn ice cream flavor! We have seasonal ice cream, like Tangerine in the summer. After we stopped having it in the fall months I can honestly not tell you how many people freaked out and yelled at me.

...and then there were the classic customers who yelled at me because of the prices .... like I could do a darn thing!

hehehehe what you did was great!
I used to work as a waitress at this restaurant, and generally people were ok, but sometimes i got really rude people, especially over the phone when i had to take their orders. I didnt really give a fuck abot these people, i was underpaid and the job was easy, but I really cared about being a good waitress all the time andtry not get get so wind up about things like that...but i remember this time a guy claimed i took his mobile phone from his table (as if) and he was shoting at me, and i shouted back at him, telling him he had no fucking right to shout at me and please leave cos i didnt take your phone nor did my colleague...and he kept saying he needed his phone for business and stuff, but when we tried calling to see if it rang it was off (yeah what businessman would leave his phone off)...i was really pissed off that time. I hope i never had to do any job like that again.

Only Mexicans and losers with no initiative, work in lower levels of the food service industry (since Ryan is in management, I'm not talking about him).

I never worked in fast food thank goodness. I worked for a brief while at a family-owned Italian restuarant when I was 15, but it didn't last long. I hated it. Customers could be so demanding and my boss was a complete ass. He would steal my tips. That, and he was married, but having affairs with some of the waitresses there. He was so mean and nasty too. He would yell at me and say "what'd you do, leave your brain at home today?!" Oh how I hated him. I also served booze there even though he could have gotten into major trouble had anyone found out, being that I was only 15 at the time.

I always make the effort to be nice to the waitresses/waiters when I dine out because I know it's a hell of a job. Plus, you don't want them getting pissed at you and doing something to your food. ;)

You're definately your my hero :D

We recently had a bad customer come into Subway... some guy having a bad day flipped out because we wouldnt' accept six of his seven full cards (all from a store in Regina, all in a row off the machine... ie hte numbers were like 02 03 04 05... big tipoff for them being stolen when we see that). It doesn't really get to me anymore, after having worked in a coffee and cookie joint in a mall, where all the super snobby bitchy people and the crazy bums would come too (gourmet cookies but our coffee was the cheapest)

The only thing that bugs me is when customers are morons trying to be funny, or try to hit on me. Ew, I'm doing a job, dont' try to pick me up. And when they try to be funny but fail... *sigh* dumbasses

Great! Very consice and to the point. As many times as i wanted to say this to an asshole customer, i couldnt because i was working there at the time. If I ever came across someone doing this while I was also a customer, I probably wouldnt have the balls to make a scene. kudos to you!!

That rocks, I have always wanted to do this. I hated when people would get all pissed at the cashier. Not like they are making the food in the first place.

Youre right. there is no need to get pissed at the cashier. but you made that sound like The cooks are at fault. As a professional cook, I know that Servers and cashiers can ring an order in wrong just as easily as a cook can make a sandwich wrong.

So regardless of WHY the service is bad, there is still no reason to get hostile.

I worked at 7-11 for a few months, and I ended up telling about 7 or 8 people to get out.

This one guy was yelling at my assistant manager because she asked him to prepay because the car didn't have a lisence plate, then I tried explining it to him and he kept yelling at her, so I told him to get out and he threatened to take me out back and beat me up. Heh.

I called the cops so he'd leave, and he ended up getting banned from 7-11.

My Assistant manager told me in the future if that guy showed up, if something happened outside off the camera, it didn't happen. Its was great to have permission to handle a customer. [IMG]
