I just recently watched this movie again, damn I love it even though some of it is false alot of it is true or based on true events. I really think the whole point of it though was the Democrats taking over the country. You see the connection, NOrth vs South but there was democrats on both sides drafting people. It was all set up to centralize the country. Man at the end of the movie when the army comes in and just ruins all that local culture in seconds. Instead of leaving the quarrel to the local population to handle it the right way. The newly drafted army setup by a Democratic regime controlled by Lincoln came in and owned, showing that the Union was going to come out on top. No matter what evil methods they had to use.
I wrote that wrong when I wrote Democrats I forgot they were different then I meant the big federal loving democrats of today.
