Hey everyone, Was just wondering who else saw this movie and if changed your mind about eating at fast food places. I know since I have seen it I haven't been to one.
I saw the movie, but it didn't change anything really because I rarely ever eat at fast food places anyway, thank goodness.
I saw the movie.....didn't really change my ways of eating. I'll usually eat fast food once or twice a month. I think that the book Fast Food Nation was more eye opening.
haven't read fast food nation, but my college nutrition class is requesting that we read it and I do hear it is pretty eye opening.
The movie was an eye-opener, but at the end of the day people scream and rave about the truth, so what happens when you serve it to them? They complain about the taste.
saw it with my 13 y-o son. I was not a McD supporter from back in the veggie fries or not debate (see Fast Food Nation's chapter on flavorings) but my son was an opportunivore- eats what's available. now, we hit Taco bell a few times a year... for veggie food. we loved the DVD extra about the french fries and sandwiches in the jars! what is IN McD fries?
It made me think about eating healthier... I haven't started yet but, I'll get around to it.... okay, I probaly won't...
It was somewhat entertaining for a documentary, but I think that eating fast food three times per day was a bit excessive. I realize there are people who do eat it that much, but it's certainly not very many. I think that a more realistic experiment would have been to eat it once per day. There ARE a lot of people that work in cities that eat fast food every day for lunch because it's quick, easy and cheap.
That movie was crazy. He ate everything on the menu. It took him over a year to lose all the weight he put on. I know I am totally watching what I eat since I watched that. I think they should show this movie to all high school students! I hear they are coming out with a children friendly version sometime soon!
Fair point Pavele. That would have still shown the damage they're doing to their body without being overdramatic. Sadly we live in a world that is used to being shocked by the news each day and somehow fear has become part of our staple diet. What you are saying is far more realistic and pragmatic, but maybe the makers of the documentary thought they wouldn't get their point across.
It was a good movie, i never realy eat fast food anyway, and the deals they have in that movie don't really apply here.. like a gallon of cola or whatever that amount was! I met Morgan Spurlock too... and his vegan girlfriend. They gave me 2 badges. That was cool.
Thanks. And yes, I think you're right in saying that the filmmakers probably wouldn't get their point across unless it was overly dramatic. If he had eaten McD's once per day, he probably would've "only" gained 1/3 of the weight.
I liked it lol it was gross but interesting. I don't eat McD hardly ever...maybe two or three times a year. But yah I think it's really sad that some people eat that kind of crap every day, or even a couple of times a week - that's awful. Although I have to admit, I really like McD's flurries *sshh*
I used to eat McD every day for lunch at one place that I worked. everyone always wanted to get their food from there, so I thought that I would too. Man, do I regret that. I only worked at that place for 4 months, and I couldn't believe what happened to me in that time. I gained about 25 pounds and I got so depressed, I couldn't understand it. It was after I saw that movie that I knew why I went from enjoying that job so much, to not wanting to move out of a chair for 2 hours, and just sit and stare at the wall. I couldn't figure it out for the longest time. I still ate it fairly often when I quit there, but after I saw that movie, which was right when it came out on video (can't remember when that was), I know that I've only had McD about 5 times. I still don't mind the food, but now I can't stop eating fruits and veggies and stuff. I'll have that over McD anyday!
I just saw it and.....Im will not drink coke as much I do now....it going to hard I am deffinetly addicted to coke
i didnt eat fast food before i saw it and after i just didnt even want to be near it, obesity is such a problem in the u.s. fast food eventually kils more people than pot, why dont they illegalize that instead?
Can you imagine the news if they did? "We interrupt this program for an emergency news bulletin...We now go over to Miami where Gertrude Fudgecake reports. Gertrude..." "The authorities are still searching for bodies after a massive shootout that happened downtown between law enforcement officers and an international cartel responsible for the illegal shipment of fast food in this country. So far there have been reports of mexican taco barons as well as a Hong Kong fried rice triad involved, but there are speculations that the real capo di tutti capi behind this syndicate is a red haired clown with yellow flared trousers. FBI agents arrested the clown after the incident at his luxury home 'The Arches' where they have also claimed to have found 20 kilos of chicken nuggets. The real tragedy however was during the shoot-out here in Miami where several officers have been injured and so far we also have three fatalities. As you can see from the live footage the scene is horrendous. There is chocolate milk-shake mixed with coke everywhere. A man from the DEA had a hot crusty apple pie squirted in his face and it doesn't look as if they're going to save him. One of the fast food smugglers had a bucket of KFC shoved up a certain part of his anatomy, which is making the task of removing it difficult for the medical staff. Sadly an innocent bystander was also killed in this incident when his stomach exploded. A stack of empty Dominos pizza boxes were found lying next to his body and the paramedics have diagnosed a possible overdose. This is just another tragic page of America's history that we are witnessing and government officials are reluctant to suggest how they are planning to combat this fast food epidemic that is sweeping from coast to coast. One idea that has emerged from the White House so far, is to bomb Syria. This is Gertrude Fudgecake in Miami for CNN, hungry."
