Band of Brothers (the HBO Series)

    and

    Uncommon Valor.

It's after Vietnam, but theres some POWs that the Vietcon weren't releasing, so this group of guys from the war who were a unit get privately funded to take a mission in and rescue them from a camp on the line between Vietnam and Laos.

Not a very popular movie but it always struck a cord with me.

I don't like war movies. Some of them, like Platoon, show the true horrors of war and so are important movies (without them, people will think that war is fun and go around enlisting) but are just not fun to watch. Much of them is just men crawling around in jungles, shooting, getting shot and screaming at each other.

y is deerhunter not a war movie? that is one of the most powerful movies i ever did see. ppl should check out some old ww2 movies they are quite good, a little different than today's, but still awesome. The great escape, bridge over the river kwai, patton, van-ryan express, is paris burning?, and the list just goes on and on. MOre recent ones would be svg prvt ryan, enemy at the gates, band of brothers was amazing, rules of engagement was pretty cool, i dno there are too many too name.

Andersonville is my favorite war movie. It is about union soldiers captured at Cold Harbor and sent to the infamous southern POW camp.

a bridge too far is an awsome movie! but it's not too fictional, it potrays the Americans as such "super soldiers" when really canadian and british were much better soldiers in WW2

my vote goes to Hbo's Band of Brother Series [if u havent seen this it's TOTALLY worth taking a whole day out of your week to watch every episode [6 dvd's with 2 1 hour episodes on each]

but IMO there is no better movie about WW2 than schindlers list, NOTHING shows the emotion of it, and the absolute terror the jews faced throughotu the war, behind the scenes of the worlds eyes.

And NO movie that has a secondary motive ie. Love story is a top contendor for the best, like Pearl Harbour, thin red line etc. they have too much crap in between to be a good war movie
