Hey everybody, nice to see there's so much interest in SummerCamp, it's going to be great this year with three nights and plenty of time for everyone to play. This'll be my fourth time hitting it up, and unfortunately my only time without anyone to go with. Does anyone have room for a rider from Central Illinois, Charleston to be specific? I'm going to college here at EIU and will still be around in the summer and I've been searching around for a ride to the show. Can offer good company and great tunes. edit: Also I've already lined up a ride back home from the show, so that's taken care of, I just need to find a way to get there in the first place. Thanks for any help! -Shane readicculu5@yahoo.com
silly phish kid. You dont have far at all to get...I am sure someone in chicago could scoop you up I would think, good luck.
Yeah it's not too far, but it's a few hours extra driving for anyone from Chicago, hopefully I can find someone who is close by or it's on their way, or someone who doesn't mind a little extra drive for gas $ plus, etc. One thing I've learned in my time as a Phish kid, it's easy to find a ride, if you put out the word to the right crowd. I'm hoping a few posts on the right boards will turn something up. But in any case I've already got my ticket, and I'll make it somehow. Bus to Peoria and a pickup from there if nothing else... I don't look forward to that though. Also forgot to mention that I don't need a ride back! I can swing that as I've lined something up for that. Just need to find a way to get there.
so ya'll we will really have to organize like a specail day and time to have a hip forums get together..i think we should do it during my friends groovatron or alan vasquez performance...shouldn't be packed to we could find one another... what do ya'll think...i'll call the guys and find out what days and times they play.
I have the same problem. I decided to put in a volunteer application for summer camp to help save some money. Maybe you could do that?
is clean vibes going to be at summercamp...? You could try that. Likewise, talk to melissa if you know her, and she might be able to help you out.
I'll meet a few of you specifically at the groovatron show! or wherever. it doesn't matter. One of my favorite things to do is to just walk around and see people. Maybe I'll make a shirt that says hipforums chick or something
i havent checked into volunteering yet, good idea. i tried doing that for coventry but i didnt get accepted. i will look around.. i was also thinking of vending to help pay for expenses cuz i have a bunch of patchwork and i can grill up a mean grilled cheese. does anyone know what the lot scene is like and if itll be cool?? headymoe... love the buster!! maybe ill catch you walking and looking, one of my favorite pasttimes at festivals. love and light
I'm going! I hope, my mom all the sudden has al these doubts nad is like blah blah but I'm supposed to go with my 20 yr old cousin so I mean wtf? She's an ass, oh well I'll probably end up going.
The lot scene is very much on the down low, or at least it has been the first 3 years. Vending is not permitted unless you have a permit to have a booth. So you can't do it too out in the open. Just be kinda careful, but security is almost non-existent at this fest. Just be smart about it and you can vend or move other things very easily. Walk through the woods or have a few things set up surrounded by lots of others camps to keep any possible enforcers in the dark. It's a pretty chill little scene. Or at least it was the first three years. It got fairly large the third year, and last year I hear was quite a bit bigger, so there could be 10,000+ people there this time. Things may be more out in the open than in years past, but I'm not for certain. Applications for volunteers are available on the summercamp website, and Jay, the guy in charge, said that they still needed more as of a few days back. Security and volunteers have pretty much just been some kids and a few locals in years past, very nice as far as I've seen. Most of them just enjoy the party around them, with minimal rule enforcement BTW some kid I was camped next to in 2002 invited Groovatron over to our camp to chill for a bit. The kid was wild eyed and out there and kept telling us how he needed to smoke with Groovatron! Then he asked them about doing more all ages shows since they played so many bars. They all seemed like good people, and they're a pretty good band too. Any questions about it feel free to ask! Really my favorite festival as it's close-by, has some of my favorite jam-bands, and has been so great in years past. moe. won't be playing acoustic 20 feet away from my tent anymore, but it's still an amazing time!
Didn't catch this till just now. I've actually tried every board around pretty much. moelinks.com, moerons.com, the moe-L, phantasytour.com, the summercamp website, etc. Nothing so far, so that's kind of a let down over the last few weeks, but come hell or high water I'll get over there. Just a question of how and how much beer I can manage to carry on the bus if need be!
Summercamp vending is not at all in the open in the lot..there really isn't a lot..there is some woods and an rv camp site...it's really an awesome park..i always feel like i'm walking thru wooded hallways..it's beautiful.. the security was very minimal in my years attending the fest..although i seen one cop on a four wheeler..but he didn't seem to bother anyone from what i hear there is only like 8000 to 10000 peeps allowed in the park... i have never formally met jay g. but the groovacrew who has tells me he is a fantastic man..all i know is one time he kicked me out of the room at the canopy club during sound check >> anyhow...groovatron...mm mm groovatron..they are wonderful people...the band and everyone who surrounds them..i luv them so much..and am so grateful to be a part of the crew... and their music is from another world .. they are all such amazing individual artists..and they all play so well togher...unfortunetly they do play in alot of bars so the youngins can't be a part of it...bars are money makers though.. i hate bars so i do not attend alot of shows.... i will be up at the groova house tomarrow..but sadly, the guys will be playin a show....in a bar but i shall find out what slot they have... we should all definetly meet during the groovatron show...eveyone in this fourm!!!!!!!!! we should really set that up..i may make a shirt that says hipforums too hehe that way we will all know who one another are..
I wish I could make this one. But no car and no job=no way to make it. But hopefully I will be at haymaker and the roo!
hey! i need to go, but i dont know how my mom's gonna change her mind (always like 5 times per event) oh lordy we all neeeed to pray that i can go! and i thoroughly agree with the t shirt idea
readicciis--Erold would probably be able to help you out too...he is the godfather of moe. tour. If you know him, ask him.
Thanks for the suggestions man. I know Erold is pretty hardcore about leaving no one behind. I've pretty much decided I'm just bussing it in if no one close by comes through. I had an offer from a kind sister in Iowa who was going to go way out of her way to help me out. I don't need anyone to go through any trouble when I can really just take a bus and call someone up to get me a ride from Peoria to 3 Sisters. If something real close-by comes through then great, but just taking a bus won't hassle anyone and it's not a bad option really. See all you folks there.
readicculus--if it comes really close to the date, and for some reason or another, you dont have a way to get down there, let me know, and I will see if I can help.
I will be going. I live in Dekalb, so its not a long drive for me. If anyone around here, or on the way needs a ride, I may have some room.
does anyone feel a bit ripped off from last year? I was told a tornado was a comin and I should leave. Five hours later I'm back home and I hear the music is continuing- and the late night show I payed 10 extra bucks for is now free. When youre really on a tight budget- or dont even have enough money for a budget, this can be fustrating. hehe I'm still goin this year. woohooo! If a tornado comes this time, im sittin in my tent and bunkerin down.
