I've just seen this awesome movie, and i wonder what do you think about it? I think that's great, it drives me mad, especially in some of its scenes( one of them is the Yardbirds) I'm feeling something special And what about you? Do you like it?
One of my favourite films. It's such an ingenious idea, and large parts of the story are told simply through its images with no dialogue. Pure cinema. David Hemmings is simply brilliant in it. And the Yardbirds scene ... iconic. I actually think Coppolla's "The Conversation" was more or less a rip off of this film. I haven't seen too much of Antonioni's other work though.
I've never seen the film although I once read the screenplay. The soundtrack recording from Herbie Hancock is wild! A single song by the Yardbirds included on it!
'Zabriskie Point' ; I'm afraid I didn't get 'The Point' of that Film. It was a box-office flop in 1970 & the only redeeming quality about it today is the 'PINK FLOYD' contribution on the Soundtrack. 'BLOW UP' was a 'Swingin' London' film from 1966 & was ground-breaking for it's use of music, imagery & nudity!!. I did a whole topic on this Film on another Forum. ...which the band actually perform in a scene near the end of the film. I might be wrong but I have a feeling their performance might have one of the first instances of a band trashing their equipment on stage. An amp keeps conking out, so the guitarist stacks whacking it with his guitar...
@Flight From Ashiya: Have you seen it, or is it just the critics you cite? This film is even avantgarde today.
