the difference between a slut and a ho, and then
the difference between a slut and a fun girl?
are you implying that 'ho' is synonymous with 'fun girl'? or that 'slut' and 'fun girl' have similar meanings? 'cause i know you're asking the difference between the terms, but i'm just not sure that 'fun girl' is necessarily related to being a ho... i don't think the words have any connection, really, as not all hos are fun, and not all fun girls are hos.

anyway, i've been under a similar pretense as michael, i think 'ho' is a short variation of 'whore.' whores have sex for money, whereas sluts have sex for free. 'ho' extends beyond just one ruled by a pimp, though... more autonomous ladies can also be hos. a 'ho' is also a gold-digger, for example. or someone who only dates drug dealers because they like getting free drugs. etc. it's not as restriced as whore, which is more of a traditional prostitute. whores are in brothels or street corners, whereas a ho can be stealth about her material motives.

anyway, back to the whole 'fun girl' thing, i'm curious... where does 'fun girl' come into play, and why is it likened to being a slut? sure, promiscuity can be fun, but i think there are a lot more pertinant factors when considering whether or not a girl is fun. and fun for whom, those she screws? or those who arent interested in having sex with her?

How about replacing them both with "I think what she's doing is a mistake, but of course there are guys out there doing things just as bad, or worse. Anyway, it's her life."

one could do that, but it would leave a lot of room for ambiguity, at least from a moral, psychological, philisophical, sociological and linguistic standpoint. because in many areas, there are striking differences.

Maybe that's true. Ordinary language just doesn't carry the kind of contempt that we get from special words for women who are out of line sexually. We need something that says "I don't agree with the way you're living, and I despise you for it." Where would we be without words like that?

haha, oh wow. i'm sorry, but if you have "contempt" for people who are different from yourself, then i will have to refuse to carry on this conversation with you. if you would like to be open-minded and have an honest conversation, then i'll definitely share my perspective... while i'm neither a slut nor a whore, i don't think it'll be worth it. your hate and sexism will not bring either one of us (or other forum members) any insight or happiness, and it seems intentional on your part. as you're choosing to make these remarks in a liberal forum for/about women, i can only assume it's meant to instigate some sort of argument, and i'm not going to take the bait on that one, sorry.
