Does anyone else think this? I'm 14 and it seems like everyone in my generation only cares about fitting in and being in the popular crowd. Even the kids who think they're individuals and don't care about fitting in, do actually make fun of people for being different. No one can think for themselves anymore It seems like it's uncool now to be smart, or to have an opinion different from other people's opinions. Girls play dumb to get guys, and guys try to act tough to get girls. Everyone seems to think whatever their parents think. It's as if politics and religion are genetic or something. Not everyone is like this, but most people seem to be.
It goes on well into adulthood as well. Not to paint a pessimistic or absolutely bleak picture, just being realist. The thing is, if at that age you already see this for what it is, you're steps and steps ahead of where your peers are. Keep it up and you'll find others who see it like you do. Sometimes it's really hard and feels like you are the only one, but you're not. The more knowledge you accumulate, the more experiences you have the stronger you'll be for it. I'm sure you probably already have thought of all this, but just saying really hang in there, it gets clearer with time.
the thing about thinking they don't care what people think reminded me of something last friday...*air goes all wavy*... ...someone said something particularly nasty about gays, and i said there's nothing wrong with people being gay, and my friend backed me up. then, only a few hours later, we were talking about this TV show about gay people pretending to be straight to win the affections of some girl and, therefore, a heap of cash, and my friend said : "why has it even gotten made, do they honestly think we want to see fucking bummers on TV, it's fucking disgusting" at which point i stared at him with an intense feeling of betrayal until i sensed he got the point
Well I agree with you element. I had those feelings when I was 14 but couldnt put them into words. I can now and can put so much more into words. The thing is, it appears to me that schools just seem to "brain wash" alot of kids into thinking a certain way. We all know the way, act tough for the girls, girls act dumb and dress sluty and wear lavia red lip stick. Im only 18 now, but were girls ever attracked to the mind?!!?! Why is everything about looks and fitting in. Its about conforming. The atmosphere in public schools seems to be like, try and be the most popular, tough, sexy, and conform to fit in. Instead of thinking outside the box like, well why do you think that person acts the way they do and dress's as slutty as she does. Why does no one stop and think, wait this is stupid why are we trying to punk out our class mates and become enemies only to look like a macho man. To make an exact point, look at Bush and all of his lies. Yet the american voters still re-elected him. Why? Because they were taught to conform and that the goverment only does good and would never attack its own(world trade centers, pentagon). Prisons put floride in their water because it helps make the prisoners conform and act more like well "sheep". This is knowledge I picked up years ago from the Discovery channel I think. Well theres floride in public water too guys... How did a 757 hit the pentagon and the only part that was under construction? Why did the roof not collapse until minutes after the collision? Why was there a 10foot hole on the inside wall of the 5th layer? Why is there only 3 frames from ONE security camera? Why is the grass outfront of the pentagon untouched??!?!?! I mean a 757 hit it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean they said it hit it.
hehe well actually they recently dug up the wings of the plane apparently. who knows how they got there though.. and it did take a while until all the conspiracy theories came up... anywya the issue in this thread is one you just gotta accept as the standard mentality of humans. why the hell do peacocks care about some stupid tail? why do bower birds select their mates on the most macho bower and not on personality? why do practically all mammals choose the alpha male through whos biggest and toughest and wins all teh fights, and why do those males always want to show off their alphosity? we are teenagers. we are humans. we are animals.
