It is only a matter of time that science will finally catch up to religion and expose it for what it really is. Religion has tricked the human race for thousands of years, but science has steadily been picking up pace. It is only a matter of time. Religion got the head start, it came about before scientific knowledge was available. But soon, i see a world where science has advanced so greatly it will change religion forever. The ones who established these organized religions have faired well with their predicitions on how to keep religion reliable through the ages, but science is an ever growing force, fuled by knowledge, determined to discover the Truth.

I was reading Proverbs and it basically admits that the only reason to believe is fear.

Some people remain blind to the truth even when it comes by and slaps them in the face. For a good example, see the "well thought-out argument against evolutionists" thread.

yeah, its already started to happen. Like the Catholic Church siding with the Big Bang theory to some extent.

I think whatever science that there is, spirituality will agree with it. Or more accurately, science will agree with the spirituality. There's one reality, and both descriptions, if accurate, will agree. So far so good, Quantum physics seems to be saying what the mystics have all along, albiet in a more cumbersome, confusing and nearly unapproachable way.

But yeah, many religions have serious problems with them stemming from control issues and misunderstanding, or misteaching, it's truths. But then, science has some drawbacks too, like it's reliance on some key assumptions. Thus, I favor mysticism. Better than faith, better than reason, it draws on experience and encompasses both.

That's all well and good, but science at least can admit it's mistakes and is willing to correct itself when wrong, unlike religion for the most part.

Science and religion are not mutually exclusive.

The more science unravels the mysteries of the universe, the more they realise they have no awnser to the fundamental questions and the more questions that appear.

I'd have to agree with trippin on this one. Just to throw out some books:
Tao of Physics, Dancing Wu Li Masters, The Minds I ......

Both areas present extremes and compromises. Much like anything else us monkeys get involved with there will be the zealots. Unfortunately it's hard to kick them off the boat because they often usurp leadership roles.
