i am having this project in psychology, where we can write about anything we want, as long as it has something to do with psychology. now, i chose to write about basically how most people in our society have lost their soul so to speak, and how that might be affecting us in the long run. you know, like in that hendrix song "power of soul" . the basic idea is that our world has become so locked up in their materialism, that people forget to develop themselves mentaly. now, i have searched around the net, and its realy hard to sort out and find the right information. i supose nitzeche (dont know if i spelled that right), research on human conciousness, social and personality development and stuff like that would be helpfull. anybody have any good links ? i could realy use some help here
I would dispute your thesis, first, I would say America, at least, has not lost their soul, in fact I would say that I have noticed a resurgence in religious beliefs. Religion and materialism can be mutually exclusive, in fact, they probably are most of the time. I have heard Nietzche described as a psychologist, but have no information on it myself. I would suggest doing something relating the Humanistic perspective in psychology with the humanism in the philosophies of Existentialists (Sartre-atheist, Kierkegaard-Christian), internal locus of control and all of that.
