Im so flippin excited... Big Wu is comin to Winona, MN on march 24th..... got my tix..... only $10!!!! Was gonna go see them at the Family Reunion but.... my car is a POS and wont make it.... plus $10 is way better than $70.... anyone else from minnesota gonna make it to this?????

i dunno, big wu just doesn't really do it for me, i have one of their live albums and it doesn't really have anything different or exciting to offer. i guess i can't pass full judgement cuz i haven't seen them live, and thats always the big test, but to me they just sound like grateful dead wannabes, i dig umphrey's mcgee lots more as far as midwest jambands go.
I love the Wu, but they're definitely kind of...inconsistent. Umphrey's is absolutely great right now, but different genre to me. Big Wu can have a lot of energy some shows, kind of depends on the crowd. Do see Stealin Strings though, just love them. and Fat Maw Rooney is awesome, if you get the chance, sometimes they tour with SS or Wu.
the show was flippin' awesome..... stealin strings was good too.. if i get a chance to see them again i'll probably do it.... but yea... lotta open room at where the Wu played.... they didnt sell too many tickets.. they sold out... but they kept it at a low number of people so that it wouldnt be nuts.. i danced my ass off for 3hrs straight and felt it all the next morning... i loved it.... BTW... mimosa. where you from?
ya i just went to The Cabooze show it was pretty good, it took em a little bit to get groovin but once they were it got pretty wild.
Hey rift, how was the smoking ban working at Cabooze? did everyone have to go out on the patio to smoke (cigarettes of course). you know the last time Wu played Cabooze, Mike Gordon was there (February?). I wasn't though.
from what i understand.... they already lifted the smoking ban... cuz in one day business revenue went down by a crazy 60%
well, KQ92 had an april fool's joke that it was lifted in mpls, but it really wasn't I guess. St Paul has a lot of bars that still allow smoking, because the mayor thinks they need the business (?)....so I guess if you want smoke free go to Mpls bars, and if not, St Paul. Just hope St Paul starts getting some good music. They do have a few places, but I'll miss the West Bank.
im gonna be in Blaine on the 9th and 10th for a food show... any shows worth checking out either saturday or sunday night?.... or you know any good bars in the blaine area that are worth goin to.... i havent been up in the cities in so long...
big wu plays in dekalb illinois next friday..and my good friends groovatron are once again opening up for them..but..i think i may miss it AGAIN...because umphreys is playin in champaign the same night..i'm so torn what to do !!!!!!
The Smoking Ban! Im not a cig smoker myself but i wish the ban did not exist, it was chaos everyone who smokes had to go outside to the street to smoke.. lots of drunk people causing lots of accidents, bumping, but it was kinda cool in a way because you got to constantly meet new people and see old friends. But ya, it also makes it harder to get a toke in secretly, not that the security really cares but ya.
