so, schneider's meat company has put out this new line of meatless products called au natural (veggie dogs, veggie chicken nuggets, veggie burgers, that kind of stuff). i've only really seen commercials, i've not seen them in stores yet, but what's the general opinion on this? personally i don't think i'm going to eat them, just because they're owned by a meat company and on top of my general mistrust, i don't want to give money to that company whether it's for real meat or fake. one of my friends has had it and said that it's great, but i think i'll stick with my yves
Well if anyone wants to eat that stuff, they'd better hope it's packaged at different plants to the meat products. All it takes is one mix up......
I would love to support a meat company's efforts to change, but I picked up a pack of their veggie wieners (haha, "wiener") and they had eggs in them. I guess it's still a step in the right direction though.
I don't know. I tend to buy most of my food (beverages aside) from small companies and local businesses, so I probably wouldn't eat it anyway.
Well, yeah, that's what companies do. It hasn't anything to do with nobility, it's a matter of giving them what they want (money) when they give you what you want (your motive here).
but isn't it still better to produce veggie stuff for money, then killing animals?so maybe if people like it, and vegetarianism, and less-meat-eatingism is growing everywhere, who knows... they are just adapting to the needs... and this is surely a step in the right direction... better then putting more money into pro meat advertsisements.
Ha! That just sparked something in me! Think about it: more and more people are becoming veg*ns every year, and the meat industry is getting a lower income, so they can't support the machines and stuff anymore as they used too. NOW if they make Veg*n food, all the people who were once omnivores are gonna pay for the products, right? They'll get their customers back! Therefore giving them more income again. NOW, what do you suppose they're gonna use the money for? Just a thing that crossed my mind....thought I should share it!
Ok, answer to original question: I've tried the veggie dogs and they were actually pretty good. Tastes just like chick'n -- er, I mean real hotdogs. Only dif I found was that the outer skin was a little bit tougher. The chick'n nuggets weren't bad either. And they're cheaper than Boca. Personally, I don't like Yves. Too expensive and tastes like rubber (to me, anyways). I'm not vegan, I'm vegetarian, so the fact that they had eggs was okay with me. Though I do understand the point about them being manufactured in the same plant. I think I'll do a little more research on them before I pick up any more of this product. Bright Blessings!
