whos going to what and what other funky hippie gatherings are there around ontario (preferably in TO)? I can't wait to meet more local freaks
I'd love some info, if you've got any links or whatever... you might count culture_revolution in too, we live in the same town, and if I have a ride somewheres mentioned on the board I'm sure she'd be interested... but I'll let her speak for herself if she comes on here
I'd definetly love to hear about any festivals where like-minded folks gather. Syntax, if your talking about 4/20, I don't know if anyone is going, because of the 20th being on a wednesday. P.S. Hi ShineOn.

Hey, ya i was planning on going to OM this year. Being a raver from the toronto ISH area. I've gone to wemf (world electronic music festival) in past years, its a 3 day. However it has a tendency to be a bit sketchy at times and a lil to much drama for my tastes. But i've heard good things about OM.
http://www.omfestival.ca/ It does sound awesome, but the site has no info. on anything for 2005 :$ Let's hope they do have something though.
I haven't heard any differnt im sure it will be on but i doubt the info will be out and about untill sooner.. OM is usually in july/augest.
I'm so glad I have the internet at my workplace, http://www.ocff.ca/festivals.htm the best list of festivals for 2005 that I came across.
This sucks but OM will not be happening this year, I recived an e-mail that says it has run it's course.. i'm totally down about this... i had a blast last year and was really looking forward to this year, when all of my friends come out too.... check out their message board.... peace...
the midways... whats going on with that..? lol my main query is, whats coming up? In May mainly, anything going on? I'm keeping my ears open, but shaba i'd love to go to a fest or something with you... a little forums gathering in the summer would be nice too
Sooooo whats going on? I really want to go to some festivals this summer, anyone heard any good news?
I was just going to say that om has been cancelled. It became far from what they imagined it. It seems to have been getting more and more diluted of a community every year, and was catalyzed by the division between the night and day crowds. during the day was workshops and other community driven and driven towards events. however, everyone who came to get fucked up and dance all night wouldn't be awake. not just this, but i've heard that tents were getting broken into, lot's of people were sneaking in, and in general it was degenerating from the community ideal they had created it to incarnate. It was still a great place to be, but not nearly ideal. Also, in my opinion, they were spending and charging WAY more money then they should have (especially on dj's from other countries[this means they paid for them to get here as well as perform]) HOWEVER, they have not given up. they have merely started over in a way that will perpetualy associate their community only with people who are dedicated, in a suprisingly inclusive way(any body can come if they're dedicated enough). if you're interested on what exactly they're doing, check out www.sumkidz.org Teknival is happening, and details can be found at http://freetekno.toronto.on.ca I've heard of a [seemingly bohemian] art festival called festival of fools(should be brilliant if it happens). OH and every tuesday at trinity bellwoods park is drum circle. It's basically a gathering the closer to the downtown core hippies of toronto, though if you drum or just enjoy the beats, I'd reccomend checking it out. Tuesdays from around 7-11 PM at trinity bellwoods park.
"Why did the OM Summer Solstice Festival have to end? The OM Festival is not happening this year. This change has taken place for a number of reasons. Many of those people who formed the planning "core" of the former festivals are not involved this year for various personal reasons. As well, the structure of the gathering has changed and we felt that we needed to re dub it so that people would not come with their former expectations. What had started out as a community gathering in 1998 gradually grew in size until it had morphed into a space which was treated by many like they would any other music festival. Essentially, it became a "production". To some, the OM Festival became "the other three-day", and as such, it became too hard to feel connected to everyone as our village gradually grew into a number of separate suburbs. We are not interested in merely throwing another "party". We party, yes, and we dance, oh yes, but we wish to create a safe space where people can meet each other, share knowledge, and initiate and work on community projects together. We shall OM together again on the Summer Solstice, but this year, our intention is not to throw a music festival called "OM", but rather a celebration of intentional community. "
