yeah, and it sucks. and they say they are preparing us for the real world! yeah right!! how can we get prepared for the real world, if they dont give us the freedom to make choices, and make mistakes, and thus, learn from them (as we would in the real world!!)?

rawr... cant wait till i graduate...just another two years... blahhh

I am constantly barefoot when the snow melts. I will carry a pair of flip flops in my purse or leave them in my car, just in case I really need them. I've only been kicked out of a store once for not wearing my shoes and have had folks tell me to put my shoes on only a handful of times.

Hey, in highschool, just wear big bell bottoms that cover your feet and you can go barefoot and beat the system ;) Or get those barefoot sandal things so from the top it looks like you have shoes on.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure that it actually IS a law that you have to have shoes on in school. Some health code thing.

There IS NO health code against bare feet. That only applies to employees, most noteably those who work in food establishments because they have to follow a uniform policy or something like that. Theres no law against going barefoot in schools or restaurants or businesses though.

Mike is correct in that ther is no "health" code against patrons being barefoot, after all you aren't going to eat off the floor. as for highschool, they "CAN" have regulations/rules that say you MUST wear shoes when on school grounds. as I said in an earlier post highschool is a dictatorship.

Of course the schools can have rules against being barefoot but I just meant that there are no laws or health codes against going barefoot to school so the police or health inspectors are not gonna come around and question you for being barefoot at such places. I do think that schools and other places should be strongly encouraged to allow their students and patrons to go barefoot if there is no urgent practical reason to wear shoes. I think there needs to be some sort of protection for those of us who would like to go barefoot to diff places from the shoe police *teachers/managers/etc*.

Now why would you wanna hide such beautiful feet from the world? Even if youre gonna get in trouble for being barefoot at school, might as well just strut em out and make it look as if youre doing nothing wrong rather than covering em up to make people have a reason to think youre doin something wrong. Besides im sure people would just love to see your feet, I know I would ;)

Two things. First, most kids in high school are petty bitches and would just make fun of her. Anything different is going to cause that.

Second, and more importantly, the point of going barefoot is comfort, not how many people see it. If she proudly displays her bare feet, she'll get in trouble and be told to stop in a very short order. If she continues as she does, there's a better likelihood that she can keep doing it. And isn't that the point?

So what if those "petty bitches" make fun of her? She oughta be proud of her feet and yes it is about comfort but im sure alot of people would love to see her feet and those who dont, shame on them.

As for the school staff thing, showing her feet is a good way to find out how they feel about things, if she shows her feet and they dont say anything then she knows its okay and if they do say something that just means its her chance to speak up for her rights and get the rules changed. These schools hate controversy so hey if her, her parents and enough of her friends shove the issue far enough down these burecrats throats then they might just get tired of fighting over it and give in.

Besides in the end the teachers oughta understand that theyre there for the students and that its the students and more importantly their parents that keep the school in business and keep money in the teacher's pockets so they oughta be glad they have any kids there that wanna learn at all. I mean who the hell cares what these people are wearing as long as their putting out 100% effort and getting good grades! These people that work at these schools really need to get their priorities straight.

She already knows how they feel. Read the first post on this thread; they said "you must wear shoes. Period."

You're right on your first point though, it shouldn't be something to take seriously, but still, it's something to consider.

My schools policy is that closed-toe shoes or sandels must be worn at all times; there's nothing said in there about sole-less sandels though ;).

If the schools says you gotta wear shoes and you know enough people that dont wanna wear shoes or dont like wearing shoes then maybe you all oughta get together and make a big protest to the school about it and maybe get your parents involved and if you put up enough of a stink about it im sure theyd change the rules real quick. Schools after all hate controversy and dont want alot of trouble from angry students and parents.
