. . . seems like they trigger uti's for me, especially when i use bath salts or the like :( does anyone know of anyways to still enjoy baths and not get uti's?

Just use water, not salts or bubbles... seems to work for me!

Perhaps try having a shower first, so then your not submerged in a bath of bacteria from your body. I"m not suggesting your dirty, but the body picks up a lot of backteria throughout the day, and in a warm bath, its optimum conditions for bacteria to breed, also, make sure you clean the bath prior to going into it

I would say cut down on the product you use, especially one's that are heavy on scent. I have body shop soap, one of their gentler varieties, and just basic shampoo and conditioner. I get yeast infections pretty easily, so I'm always worried about stuff like that, plus I have sensitive skin to begin with. Bubble baths and salts aren't grand for you.

Aside from the suggestions already mentioned, it might help if you pee right after you get out of the bath... I know that docs recommend going pee right after sex, kinda to wash out any bacteria that made it into the urethra during all that bumping & grinding, it seems like the same logic would work with a bath...

I always take a quick shower to rinse off after a bath... No matter how clean I was before getting in, I usually shave in the bath, so I want to rinse away the shave gel & stray hairs (and, frankly, I don't shower right before a bath, so I'm sure there is some normal body funk in there too!)... Who knows, that might help reduce infections as well...

retro groove girl gave excellent advice.

if you really want to add some sort of scent to your tub, how about dropping a couple bags of chemomile tea in the tub? it'll soothe your skin and make you feel more relaxed, like bath salts (although hopefully without the uti).

what about other products, like your shampoo or soaps? once you rinse it off, it's still floating around in the tub. if cutting out bath salts/bubbles doesn't work, check out your shampoo/soap and make sure that's not what is giving you a bad reaction. that might seem a bit unlikely and farfetched, but i don't know if you have any allergies to certan perfumes or sensitivities or whatever.

I have always had problems with UTI's due to taking baths, so I've been a shower girl for many, many years. When I was a little girl, I hated it because I could never use bubble bath in the tub without getting a nasty UTI, and they were so painful.

I can't even use certain soaps in those areas without reactions, so I have to be careful about what I use. Dove is good, I've never had problems with that one. In fact, my best friend's OB recommended that she use that because she had been having reactions from everything else too, so I decided to try it myself, and it worked.

I still like to soak in a hot tub occasionally, especially late at night, but I always use my kids' baby shampoo or baby washes to make bubbles. They're very mild, so they are less likely to irritate you. Plus, they smell so good! ;)

    Hugs.

Plain water, don't add anything to it. Use mild soap, and limit time in the tub to under a few minutes. Not long soaks. I had to do 5 minute baths for years while I had UTIs, and I love nothing better than LONG soaks. Still it was better than the pain and bleeding of repetitive UTIs.

Once I had surgery, and got off of the pill and stopped using spermicide. I stopped having so many UTIs and can now soak as long as I want!

Severe UTIs can cause frank blood to appear. It is really painful as well as very scary. {Gross out warning} I used to pass clots the size of golf balls. From my urethra. UGH! Ithink they were calling it haemoragic cystitis. Yuck.

put a cap full or 2 of baby oil instead of bath salts etc. it makes your skin soft and wont hurt your insides
