I got this wood pipe yesterday, it has cover that go over the bowl, it like slides over to load it then you cover it, and there's this little screen on to, so I was wondering do you just light it bowl through the hole on top, or do you still leave it open, to light? I never used one like this be for...I got it because it looked cool (the wood has like layers of colors in it, like blues and reds and stuff), and it was nice and small, for hiding...
You can use both ways, the cover will be so nothing falls out but without the cover you can get bigger hits i'd imagine.
