The NUT is to ballot its members for a proposed day of industrial action... to take place on 28th April... the action taking place over the government's proposals to change our pension conditions... The union recently undertook a survey of the membership to see if a day of industrial action was the wishes of the members... 70% of those who returned the survey were in favour of taking industrial action over this issue... Please support the teachers who are proposing to take this action... I hope that the other teaching unions will join with the NUT action... other non-teaching unions, such as Unison, will be aiming to support this day of action... We cannot allow our futures to be sold out (like they did to the poor bastards who worked for Maxwell)... Fly...
Wow... you start up a thread about something that could be incredibly important... a national union that may be taking strike action in the final run up to a general election... and what response does that generate?... absolutely fuck all... sorry... apathy may continue as normal... Fly...
I read this Fly. As you know I'm obviously going to be in support of it. I want to publicise the day if action does take place on it, on Socialist Unity website. Please let me know the result of the ballot and I'll put the event up....
Held a union meeting in work today... good response from my colleagues... also invited those from other unions because we need to create as massive a shit storm as is humanly possible... NASUWT are currently surveying members about attitudes regarding industrial action... so far, the results indicate a similar percentage who are willing to go to industrial action... Unison will probably also be taking action on that day, so that could have an impact upon dinner ladies, cooks and other ancilliary staff... Will let you know all the details as things unfold... ballot papers should be with us by first week of April... Fly...
Ah... isn't it funny?... since announcing the general election, the government has suddenly decided to shelve plans for changes to teacher pensions in favour of opening new discussions with the teacher unions... If I was a cynical old fuck (which of course I am not), I'd be thinking that the governemnt is bullshitting just to avoid teachers going out on strike the week before the geeral election... Anyways... the day of action has now been halted... Fly...
Everyones pensions have or are shortly to be fucked up... lucky you have a union that is strong enough to stand up aginst the changes Oh just seen it's unison... well they did fuck all for us so good luck, you'll need it
yeah, good luck man! i am not really able to comment much on this either as i have no idea whats going on, but from what you've said it sounds like the government trying to screw people over yet again and therefore comes as no surprise so all i can say is hope it works out for you. peace and love stardust xxx
hi there yes support all who need i am a member of the socialist party we try to help were possible. and thought the strike would go forward pensions problem.... but again labour back stepped for awhile unison man got in again and he is not willing to leave labour party to form a new workers party. plus all unions have to pay to labour party unless they cut ties..... the socialist roger bannister who tried to stand against dave prentis....{unison man} is willing to be on a workers wage and pull away from new labour and form a workers party.. he was running for unison this year.... anyway yes stand with the workers and force this capitalists world to change all strike. all take action against the imperialistic reality and lets end class divide.... lovenpeace form saff
