hey can anyone give me some hip guitar songs i can learn besides blackbird and of course stariway to heaven witch i allready can play?
Axilla by Phish, simple but oh-so satisfying (and impressive, I'm told) and if you're a fast picker, learn some Leo Kottke because he kicks ass
I wonder the same. Improv is best, imo. But you must learn others before you do your own to get a little experience
marble tulip juicy tree. tabs at www.weentabs.com you should be able to find the song free for download somewhere in this: www.weenftp.org/ween
actually, ween is awesome, and their stuff is pretty simple. download shit from that second website (right click and save target as), and if you like it, find the tabs at weentabs.com....
i downloaded all the songs you guys told me to check out and im learnign some, sound pretty good, my friends at school all each have like their own lineup of favorite songs they play all the time and i felt left out because all the songs i can play are taken by one person or another, i want somthing kinda challenging that would make me fit in a little better.
Catfish Blues has, indeed been covered by a lot of musos.....as have an awful lot of the old blues songs! Bearing that in mind, it's always worth having a few 'on tap' to perform, as blues appeals to a lot of people. Take care, though, to avoid the trap of 'I woke up this mornin',....etc' blues song cliches. Try and vary the key, style and tempo. Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker did some great songs, with plenty of tempo and slick licks, that are not too difficult to learn, especially with tablature available for most of them. Elmore James had a raw electric sound that inspired the likes of Brian Jones to form the early Stones as a blues band. There are, of course, hundreds of others all equally deserving of performance!
