Take Back the Night Rally at my college is next week.

I’ve been to several of them, and sometimes it seems to be a good thing, where people of both genders rally to protest against sex crimes. The atmosphere seems to be focused on anti-crime, and making the streets safer for everyone.

Other times it seems not so good, when men aren’t allowed to the march and the attitude seems to be "men are pigs" rather than "take back the night and make this a safer campus for everyone." Sometimes it seems like a rehash of the past, when survivors recount their horrible experiences, and other times it seems more forward-looking, when speakers talk about demanding more lighting and security patrols from the college.

What do you think about "Take Back the Night"? What should the focus of this nationwide rally be?

maybe it should be about both subjects, because speaking of the past is not a bad thing. you know, becuase people will learn from the past if it becomes well known but you also have to plan for the future. So i think that you rally should do both. Start with victims who will tell their stories and then do what plans of action are going to be taking place.
