I'm leaving home in about two months or sooner, and I'm looking for some form of communal living to be a part of. I don't really care about the conditions, like whether theres electricity, whether drugs are 'allowed', etc. Basically the only thing I care about is that the community is emotionally open, a place that carries a real spirit of love. I've found a few websites and heard a few names, but I couldn't find information about whether they were active or just plans that haven't been set in action. I've also looked all over the forum but my brain turns to goo trying to sort out which ones are actually happening right now and which ones are just planned out. I know Zendik is obviously active but they seem to lack the kind of sincerity I'm looking for. I'm looking for a place that's active, anywhere relatively east in America, anywhere from Maine to Florida to about Kentucky (looking at a map, haha). I'll keep looking, but I'd really appreciate it if someone could at least point me in the right direction, somewhere I could be living within a few months. I could only contribute about $2000, if it's that kind of place. I don't have any skills but I'm a quick learner, usually. Thanks everyone
hey im really interested in this too, im trying to find something in the mountains if possible, if you find anything let me know.
hi, one of my friends just bought 150 acres with a 10 room house in wassaic, ny which is a rural area a couple of hours outside nyc and 1 hour from new paltz. he is also looking into buying another 36 acres across the road with 4 barns. he is also involved with another project an hour away that has multiple living shelters on a good size piece of land. he has been involved with the communal living movement since the 60s. he is looking for cooperative community oriented people with initiative to help get something started there. so if you want to be involved in building a community project from the beginning here's a chance. he's not on the internet but you can call bill henry at 518 398 1337. he is also part of an extensive environmental and activist movement in the hudson valley. peace nwrfred ps. some other community development ideas are also being developed at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/newworldrisingforum/.
