Okay, first off, I'm an open-mined atheist. Yes, Jesus did die. (Of course) Was he resurrected? I don't know. I personally think that a faith is based off of one woman's sworn word (virgin mary) is completely asanine. I know many a comic routine has been played off of this, but its true. Could she have made it up to cover her ass? SURE! This isn't exactly the right forum, but its cool to get stoners thinking about theology and how much religion has effected society, and how laughable it can be if you look at the big picture.

haha nice hallewbythename(aka schmieske) ha "religon is a cult.." i like that, people need a sole-ultimate purpose in life, an answer to the classic"why are we here?" question, so they use religon to fill that void.

A little bird told me that the Jews killed Jesus. Obviously, I'm not religious, so im not biased. If the Jews killed Jesus, then why do they occupy the Holy Lands today? Discuss. ;)

If you believe it that's cool, but I don't believe anything that happened in the Bible. I mean, I understand that history may have shaped the events in the bible, i.e. massive plagues, waters parting, and whatnot, but I don't believe any of it was because of God.

How can you have a set decision that you don't believe those were acts of God, when you don't know whether or not he did it?

This is a very complicated issue, but I am a Christian and the Bible explains all of that. God has a covenant with the Jews. Why? Because he is a sovereign God. Not everything he does makes sense to our human minds, but he as a perfect plan and we may not understand it until we die.

So to answer the original question, it has been shown to me through radical experiences that Jesus is the son of the living God, and yes, he died for me.

id never though of that.. why would god bless the people who dont technically believe in all of him?

though jesus was jewish, so the fact that jews killed him sorta is redundant in a way.

but yeh if jews dont believe in one third of god, why the hell should they get the holy land

Because the Jews believe that Jesus was not the Messiah and that they are still waiting for god to send his son.... and he blesses all people because just because you dont love something it dosent mean that it dosent love you.... but hey thats just my opinion.... :) im not a religious person but thats what i have heard at church

I do know, because I "know" there is no God. Please note the quotations, because it cannot be proven one way or another but it's what I feel in my heart.

ok, the roman empire ordered jesus to be killed.

the jews occupy the holy land because after the holocaust the allies had no other place to put them. So they said hey what about those stinky paliestiniens no one cares about them.

Like I said, it is complicated, but I will do my best to try and explain.

In the Bible, God tells us that he is the potter who has deminion over the clay. He can make one vessel for honor and one for dishonor. He tells us that he will harden whoever's heart he wants according to his perfect and sovereign plan. (See Romans 9)

Therefore, it's really like the Jews have been blinded. And "how does this fit into God's plan?" you may ask.

Well, to make a long story short, God didn't make the earth to last forever. The Jews have to be blinded because it is this that will cause the antichrist to come into power. They believe that they are waiting for God's son. When the antichrist shows up, they will believe it is him. Then there will be a time of peace, but when the antichrist slaughters a pig on the temple steps, they will know they have been deceived because they do not believe in eating pork due to the old testament teachings. The Jews do not believe in the new testament, only the old. So if you want to really trip out, see Isiah 53. That chapter is a prophecy describing Jesus, and it is in the old testament (which the jews believe in). They ignore this chapter because they know that if they accepted it, then their beliefs would have to be wrong.

But in conclusion, the Jews are blinded to fulfill God's will. And the fact that they are also God's chosen people only goes to show what a sovereign God He is.

"Religion is a crutch for weak-minded people" i highly believe in this quote(by former governor Jesse Ventura.. not the best governor.. but at least one that spoke what was on his mind, and for that he made a great polition.. instead of all the other liars in politics) But its true... religion is for those who need something that'll help'em make their day better.... make them think things they did arent bad anymore because the "confessed their sins" and that makes all better.... or death, christians and other religious followers feel theres a higher plane.. so they are not so afraid of what happens after death.. it makes them secure that they'll go to a "better place" when they die.... the one thing that pisses me off the most about religion is how in christianity that you must be baptised at birth because you need to be washed of your sins!?!?!?! WTF!!!! what has a child done that is a sin?? its pathetic how christianity and other religions make you feel bad for being born.. or any thing else you do in life thats "not in the bible"

actually, not all branches of Christianity baptise the babies. In fact, the only one that I can think of is catholics.... they do that.... but other branches of christianity wait until later in life when the person decides to follow christ.

The Jews didn't kill jesus, the justification behind the claim that they did is that somewhere in the new testament the romans gave the jews the choice to release a prisioner. That is complete and total Bullshit, the romans would never, ever do something like that, especially when dealing with a newly occupied rebelious provence months away from the capitol. In those situations they didn't just go around handing out favors, but more or less killed everyone who bothered them.

Now, the reasons the Jews don't believe in Jesus, is that he really isn't the messiah. Christians have completely forgotten the true meaning of the word, annointed one. You see the messiah will be a priest king who will rebuild the temple, resurrect the priest class, and smite all the jews enemies. Oh, and jesus didn't even come close to fufilling the profecies.

Oh, and the jews believe in the torah, the talmund, or assorted kabalistic texts, not just the 'old testament'.

god christians can be so ignorant sometimes.... you took this perfectly nice ancient pastorial religion and completely fucked it up.
