This isn't the case anymore. In fact, the Church of Lader Day Saints is the fastest growning church on the African continent. scary. They did not let black people into the tabernacle until 1972.

    I'm confused,
So the belife is not that black people can get into their heaven?

Or are you just telling me that they integrated their churches in 1972?

(your middle sentance tell me that mormons are making africans believe this too, am I right?)

I am sorry. It is early here. What I have heard, from my family (jack mormons [ex-mormons]), was either that the mormon church both did not believe that black people could get into heaven, or could not get into the highest level of heaven. This was reflected in their leadership, and like the old jewish temple, where they could or could not go in the main mormon tabernacle.

Once again, they changed their beliefs to reflect the political climate in the 1970s.

Perhaps someone else has more credible info. I am interested as well. I am also interested in the synergy between the mormon church and the Native American Church. Anyone?

They let black people in now, but they are not allowed to be ministers.

Actually, they officially started letting black people into priesthood in 1978. It's just not common.

Not true. Black people can be bishops and hold the Priesthood.
ForestPixie, You're talking about how if you sin, basically your soul "becomes black". Black not meaning African-American. Black meaning...Imagine your soul as a white carpet. When you sin, it's like trailing in black muddy footprints all over the carpet.

Check out http://www.mormon.org or http://www.lds.org for our beliefs. Don't go to the anti-LDS sites because of COURSE they're going to tell you anything they can that will make even more people hate us.

Those are both good sites. As far as I know Mormons make no racial distinctions whatsoever. People are people are people as far as they are concerned..Those links that purplemoonbeams put up are good ones. And don't give too much crediot to the anti-LDS sites. They seem to be competing with one another to come up with the most obscene BS about the LDS church possible. I saw one a while back that tried to seriously claim that Joseph Smith was a peophile, a mass murderer, and a canibal.

i wasn't refering to skin color, just stupid generalizations. The fact that brown was one of the team colors was a coincidence.

Actually, most Catholics in the world now are black. Most in Africa, over 500,000,000 of them. I imagine it is pretty easy to blend your native/tribal beleifs with Catholicism just like many South/Central Americans do.

My line of thinking was yes, the Mormon Church is the fastest growing Church in the US, I beleive, but not in Africa.
